- A tree so beloved in the south that it has its own festival this weekend in Atlanta. The Dogwood trees sure are beautiful right now.
- Braving downtown to return a pair of shoes purchased online. An internet search revealed that the manufacturer has a store in Peachtree Center, right in the heart of downtown Atlanta. Something about the scent of it (food, cigarettes, transit vehicles) made me think of being in New York City. And for sure, the street around Peachtree Center was filled with tourists, visitors, conventioneers. A fun (and windy!) 20 minutes and then home to the 'burbs. :)
- A fun, rollicking read: "The Adventures of Black Jack Pepper" by M.L. Madison (aka our friend Riot Kitty). It is meant to be a children's book, but I found it a fun read about a wonderful family that includes a French Toast loving cat. Details can be found here, if you'd like to order this ebook.
It's the weekend again! I'm ready for it! I hope you have a wonderful one!

Up here, they're just barely beginning to bud. Last year, we had a very weirdly warm March, and they all bloomed. Then there was a frost overnight, and all the blooms turned brown, just like that. It was really sad, they were only open for a day or so.
Second!!

I am more familiar with Redbud, Bradford Pear, Mountain Laurel, et al here than dogwood, but I think Austin must have some too. I love how you zoomed closer in the trio of pix, nice.
Riot Blossom, my mind connected Shay's gravatar and wanting to say AWESOME to Riot Kitty on her book.

Oh for all those blooms to finally come here! Gorgeous!
Magnificent! I love them. sandie
Beautiful! In about a month, after your trees are all green, I'll post some of our dogwood shots!
Thanks so much Lynn! And thanks Jannie! I love Riot Blossom, maybe I'll change it when I retire ;)
Lovely pics.
Simply beautiful. Have a wonderful weekend. And yes, I too will be ordering the talented Riot Kitty's book. And I love children's books - because they so often speak to me. Quite loudly.
The dogwood flower represents the cross, with the center being the crown of thorns and the red tips on each leaf the blood of Christ.
Those shoes would have to have been very expensive for me to take that much trouble to return them. However sounds like you enjoyed the outing.
Oh yes, The Adventures of Black Jack Pepper is a fun read for all ages. That Riot Kitty is a riot when it comes to writing and her brother is quite an amazing artist.
Hi Lynn - the Dogwood festival .. I'd love to visit - sounds gorgeous and looks warmer than we have here - though the sunshine is out.
Happy weekend ... Hilary

Riot Kitty -
You are welcome! A fun read. :)
The Elephant's Child -
Indeed - your blog handle is a character from my favorite Kipling story.
Granny Annie -
I was trying to avoid paying $8 in shipping and paid $4 for 22 minutes parking instead. :) Oh well. ($2 per 20 minutes - crazy.
Hilary -
You should visit! Love your A to Z posts this year!
Those trees are beautiful!
I can cope going into a busy town centre for short periods of time and then love the feeling that I'm heading back to the tranquility of my home in the country.
Hope your weekend is going well!
I just caught up on your last three posts, and am swooning with envy at your gorgeous spring photographs! Would you believe it snowed in Toronto today? Gah. It must end soon!
Joe -
I like the city in small doses like that - I can't imagine living down there, but there are a few.
Sparkling Red -
That snow needs to go! I hope it passes quickly.
Pretty trees there- We're really cold in 40s with rain today.
Sounds like a good day to go downtown, n good to get out again unscathed also-
Also sounds like I should read RKs book- n give to grandkids maybe if 8 & 9 yr olds would like it.
Bet your week-end was netter than mine at work- Having nasty allergy time n sore from it lately.
Well, this comment is almost a week late, but the weekend is rolling around again.
I love the dogwoods. Our flowers are all gone now. We had a quick Spring!
