- Hearing so much conversation in Spanish during my visit to the Frida Kahlo / Diego Rivera exhibit. And finding that I can understand much of it (but not speak it myself.)
- Making Chicken and Cheese Quesadilla Pie for Sunday lunch. The recipe can be found here. So good and I liked that you could use already cooked chicken in it. It overfilled the 9-inch pie plate for me (should have measured that chicken - I just used all of it), so I slid the whole thing into my 10-inch iron skillet and that worked just fine.

We are all complaining about this strange spring and all the allergies that accompany it. Many of us are reacting like never before. I guess it is worth it, but this nose will not stop running.
Our housekeeper is from Guatemala and once in a while she will not understand what I am trying to express in English, so to my surprise, I am able to reach in my memory for the correct Spanish word to explain.
You are brilliant to think of using your cast iron skillet. I have found some pie plates overflowing and now I will know what to do.
If spring has sprung down your way, it will be here shortly. Thank goodness. That chicken quesadilla pie looks so good. I think making quiches and such is a great way to cook. :)

It's funny how language seeps into our brains...too bad it didn't slip off our tongues as easily!

And it always amazes me how it is so true that you can understand a language pretty fluently and yet not be able to speak a word of it!

Yes - I've had the runny nose myself the last few days.
I took two required courses of college Spanish ten years ago, and while I never really felt comfortable speaking it, I gained a good understanding of it.
It was about to run all over, so I had to do some fast thinking and the skillet was at hand. :)

It is very good - I made a note to get the burrito size tortillas next time. And also to half the salt. I'll probably keep putting it in that skillet to bake it.

Our pine pop leaves yellow pollen everwhere and has my eyes streaming for a day or two - but it is part of the magic of regrowth.
And I can read much more French than I would have any hope of understanding or speaking. A second (or more) language is one of my regrets. And I don't think my brain is anything like agile enough now.
Pollen here has been bad- n barely started. I keep taking Benedryl... Espanole es Biena, No? It's so different than Portugeuse n Creole spoken at work. I'll check out that recipe. Good food blog there-

I agree about the pollen. It's all over everyplace. My eyes feel sticky if I'm outdoors very long, but the rains will come and wash it all away.
Even though my ex-husband was fluent in Spanish and most of his spoke it, I learned quickly I don't a good language ear. My kids picked it up, but not me. They always had to be polite and explain things to me.
The recipe sounds yummy in the tummy. I hope it was:~)

It exceeded my expectations. So wonderful to see so much of their work in one place. They even had a reproduction of the infamous mural Diego painted that the Rockefellers commissioned and then destroyed. Awesome to see.

I don't hear Portuguese spoken around here much (unless I don't realize that's what I'm hearing.)

That pie sounds SO lovely!!
Hope that exhibit wends its way here. I'd love to see it. And hear lots of Spanish, which I can't speak much of either but do understand a fair bit.
