- Coworker Dee had a birthday and since it is his first year with our company, we had a discussion about what kind of treat he might like for his special day. The problem is - he doesn't eat breakfast or lunch (what's that about?), and doesn't like sweets. And really doesn't like chocolate (what???) So we were happy that he had a sense of humor about our solution. :)
- A quick trip to the mission that I do printing for to take a printer proof and deciding to borrow their trash dumpster for some fast food cups that needed throwing out of my car. A tiny woman who has seen many birthdays is sitting on a bench, colorfully dressed in a red and purple dress. She is wearing black Mary Janes with white ankle socks, her handbag in her lap. And she is watching my trip to the dumpster with great interest and a huge smile. "Hey!" she calls out. "Hey!" I call back.* The bus pulls up right then and she gets on it. I didn't get a chance to tell her how much she brightened my day.
- And on the way back to office, stopping by Wendy's for a large unsweetened iced tea to travel back to the office with. So refreshing on a humid day.
*We say "Hey" more often than "Hi" in the South and it is pronounced "Hay." :)

We do a lot of "haying" here, too - reserved, here, for people you know well.
lol @ the water gift. That was perfect! :)
Doesn't like sweets OR chocolate?! What is that about?!
#1-It's the thought that counts : )
I don't know about skipping meals like that. It would make me super grumpy.
Doesn't eat Breakfast or Lunch, and doesn't like CHOCOLATE???? OY!
You found the perfect gift for him....lol!
hay, Girl! That candle on water bottle is perfect.
I cleaned out my car today, took me over an hour, trash out, vacuumed and washed down all the interior -- that time of year. :) I can relate to how those cups can pile up! Good going. I like that old lady on the bench, sounds like a sweet character.
xooxo
Does the poor man have any vices? Not liking chocolate is almost criminal.
I love the elderly stateswoman on the bench - and am sure that you brightened her day as much as she yours.
You mean there is a person out there that doesn't like chocolate? sandie

We typically add two syllables to Hay, too. :)
Joanne -
I know - mystifying.
Leonora -
Same here. He doesn't look as if he is wasting away - makes me wonder if he picks up snacks here and there when he's out.
Naomi -
I know - unbelievable. :)
Jannie -
Haay Jannie. :) Yes - one of contributed the bottle of water, the other the candle and the other the note. :)
Good to see you! xoxoooo
Elephant's Child -
I guess not. A very nice man with a great laugh.
I hope so - as the bus pulled up, a number of other people about her age came out of the daycare area of the building and got on the bus, too. I usually see it full of kids - I guess this is some kind of special program. I wondered why she separated herself like that while everyone else was still inside.
Sandie -
He's one of the few I've ever heard about. :)
Follow him home. I bet he pigs out.
Your tiny woman made my day too. Hay!
At least they put your lid on your tea nicely. Poor Riot Kitty didn't have good results with her coffee.
I think your co-worker may be a robot. ;-)
Sometimes my birthday falls on Rosh Hashanah, a Jewish day of fasting. I always joke that we should celebrate with lit candles balanced on an empty plate.
that birthday water made me smile. you found the perfect present for him.
not liking chocolate? oh my!
big hugs~
sorry for only just now commenting.
Granny Annie -
She was delightful - I'm glad she made your day, too.
I know - that's terrible what happened to RK!
Sparkling Red -
A good idea for your birthday next time. :)
Betty -
I'm glad I could make you smile - come when you can. Big hugs to you!
You would be a great local newspaper columnist or short story writer - you have such a good eye for detail and are such a good storyteller. You find really neat things in what most of us would miss.
Bet your thought of a gift was very appreciated, even if it was water-
I like the candle! Sometimes a simple "Hi!" cheers me up too- better than a stranger's silence anytime- Nice you can stop for refreshments during deliveries.
Hey, Lynn! We say Hey here, too! Hey! And some even will be telling you something and they tag a "Hey!" on the end of it....it's as if they're asking for your agreement to what they're telling you...hey!
Take care. :)
Riot Kitty -
I would like to do something like that - thank you for saying that, my friend.
Snaggle -
Yes - a simple greeting can sometimes make my day, too. Just like that lady calling out to me. :)

That's interesting - the world is a fun place, isn't it?
I don't eat breakfast or lunch either. Well unless I'm in the States and then I can't resist, and that's why I'm dieting now!
Joe -
Now that is funny - I loved the breakfast in the UK - poached eggs with sauteed tomatoes and mushrooms. Yum. :)
