A series of photos from last Sunday in chronological order.
- This is the
Chatuge Dam recreation area and the view from the parking spaces. My sister and I took each other to our favorite walking places, the Rhododendron Gardens on Saturday (my favorite) and the Chatuge Dam walking trail on Sunday (her favorite). An early morning walk with the promise of breakfast out after. :)
- Chatuge Dam is a flood control and hydroelectric dam operated by the Tennessee Valley Authority, which built the dam in the early 1940s. So nice of them to include this 1.5 mile walking path, which was in heavy use on this gorgeous morning.
- We ran into a neighbor on the return trip and I amused myself by photographing these wooden motor boats, while sister patiently listened. (The neighbor was in full griping mode, so I removed myself from that.) :) Neighbor's husband said the wooden boats were having a parade later that day.
- Sister stopped her car so I could photograph this valley vista on the way back up the mountain to her house. A crop has been planted in this field that I'll get to see growing next time I'm there this summer. Lucky people living in that white house; they get to see that view all the time.

Oh I love your weekend! Beautiful vistas, good walks, far away from the work week, and quality sister time. It doesn't get much better than that!
That is such a very Beautiful place....I love that this Dam was built in the 1940's---so very many great things were created in the late '30's and early '40's by the TVA and other Goverment Agency;s like it....I hope your Breakfast out was as good as your walk around the Dam! A GOOD Weekend, my dear!

I'll have my gripe about people who love to gripe. Some seem to get much enjoyment out of griping; while others get none from having to listen to their griping!! lol
I wouldn't mind to be sitting beside the water somewhere right now! I think I might go and fill up the bird bath and sit next to it!!

Poor neighbor stressed out. Sometimes getting distracted to more pleasant things is totally worth it.

Exactly - it really was perfect. Even when the loud band cranked up at the restaurant on Saturday night - we kept our sense of humor about it. :)

She's back home now in Florida, where she says it's "like a sauna." It was 94 degrees with high humidity yesterday in Atlanta, too. Miss those mountain temps.

Lucky people indeed! I would be willing to sacrifice the convenience of the 24 hour grocery store steps from my door for that view.
