Stone steps, young visitor and the home stretch

- It was so humid outside yesterday after work that you could practically see the humidity, but I went for a walk anyway.  Love these natural stone steps I've passed a hundred times before.  At Tanyard Creek Park, Atlanta.

- Just around the corner, they've recently installed these man-made steps.  I like the natural ones better, but on a day when it's not so humid, I might add a trot up and down these steps for added workout results.

Just around the corner, a wee boy in plaid shorts and baseball cap was standing alone.  He waved and I waved back.  He announced he was going to get to play baseball.  "Who is with you?" I asked.  He pointed and a woman deep in conversation with another was just out of sight.  On my return trip, he was hitting a ball with a plastic bat off a baseball tee, with the women (probably nannies), now seated on the grass, still not watching.  I gave a silent arms-raised cheer for his good hit when I went by.

- My favorite part of the walk yesterday - my car was almost in sight at this spot and it was over!  I was drenched in perspiration from the humidity, but still glad I did it.  I always think of this as the home stretch when I walk here in the afternoons.

Wherever you are this weekend and whatever you do, I hope good things happen for you.

Hi Lynn - I'd prefer the natural steps too .. but a quick up and down the manmade ones as exercise - sounds very good to me ...

Lovely park to walk around .. and poor little boy doing his own thing - sad really ... but glad you waved .. enjoy the weekend Hilary

Hilary -

It is lovely. I almost didn't include the bit about the little boy, but it haunted me. I'm sure the women were nannies - they were both young and wearing black dresses (of all things - in that humidity.) They were just not really paying any attention to my little friend or his companion at all. I liked giving the cheer behind the inattentive nannies' backs. :)

I applaud you for going out in the sticky heat to exercise, Lynn. When it's humid like that, I become a puddle of mush! :)

Hope you have a beautiful weekend.

I visited my sister this week for her 70th birthday. Their home is surrounded by lovely natural stone steps. Their young grandchildren enjoy climbing on them. I know that in their minds they see themselves scaling mountain peaks.

Thursday I made a snap decision to do some mowing and finished most of the front area of our home. It is a good thing because Friday the weather turned humid and explosive. Thunder storms come and go and the heat is oppressive. Stepping out the door causes my glasses to immediately fog over. Glad that I ride my exercise bike indoors:) You are truly a trooper to prevail in such humid weather.

So do I - you should see me with the dripping hair. I think that's the reason my potassium levels went so low that I had to start taking prescribed supplements - I'm perspiring so much.

Thank you - you have a wonderful weekend, too.

Betty -

"Poetic writing style" - thank you, I'm so pleased you think so!

I think I've just gotten so used to it, but no question - I love my AC, too. :)

Big hugs, to you!

Joanne -

Aren't they? I finally decided to photograph them - so handy to have the iPhone with me.

Granny Annie -

That so great that you got that mowing done! You're a trooper for doing that - I've never mowed grass, not once.

I'll bet your sis loved that visit and I like the visual image of the children scaling those steps, as if the are mountains. :)

You are a better person than me - I remember days in Houston when I didn't even want to go outside, let alone for a walk!

Must have been alot of work making those nifty rock stairs. I get stairs workouts several times per day, living upstairs n carrying things in n out. I hope the friendly little guy stays safe of his own volition, despite the Nanny's lack of close attention.
Hope your week-end is easier than mine with the PMC Jimmy Fund PMC riding bikes down-Cape increasing orders

The stone steps are absolutely beautiful! What lush greenery.

I love how little kids can be so open to making new friends.

Riot Kitty -

The weather here this summer hasn't been too bad so far - I can live with it. :)

Snaggle -

That's great exercise - going up and down those stairs. Good to see you!

Sparkling Red -

Thank you - it's rained so much this summer that it should be lush. :)
