View from the couch, OK - I had two and looking forward

- First fire in the fireplace this season.  The temperature dropped into the 40s yesterday evening and there was a distinct chill in my living room when I got home around 6:30pm.  And there is was - the opportunity for a fire.  I love it so.

- A happy printing client brings chewy homemade oatmeal cookies, still warm from the oven, as a thank you.

- A random text from my best guy friend, Steven, inviting me to dinner next week.  We met on his first day at work, when he was sitting at a drawing table working and smiled at me as I walked by.  This was in 1988.  Pretty long, as friendships go.  We are not in constant touch these days, but know each other is there.  It brightened my day to think of having dinner with my handsome and funny friend.

Keeping it simple today and finding the simple things are what make me the most happy.  I hope you find that today, too.  Have a great weekend my friends!

I love a good fireplace warmth. Somehow the heater is just not the same!

Fake fireplace here with propane stove inside it. Still lovely and glad to have it ready for the season.

Notice how melancholy everyone is due to the season change.

Happy you can look forward to dining with your friend.

Wish I could curl up on front of the fire, Lynn!

It's lovely to catch up with old friends.

Only two? Warm oatmeal cookies? I'd have grabbed the platter and ran! :)

What a nice "three." It is so nice when you get to get together with a good friend.

It's still not cold enough here to light a fire, but it was chilly and I enjoyed my walk today very much. Lots of sunshine and cool comfort, instead of muggy heat.

I hope you have a nice weekend, Lynn:~)

With good friends it matters not how long since you've last seen each other...the quality and strength of the friendship remains.

The small things loom big in my world. And your small things are big and beautiful.
Have a great weekend.

I haven't yet had a fire--it's about time as the temps have been dropping below freezing and I have well over a cord of wood split and waiting to be burned.

Joanne -

I know - we just had a brief cold spell and then it's back to daytime highs in the 70s (which I'm not complaining about.)

Granny Annie -

I'll bet it is lovely. I haven't noticed more melancholy here - I think people are ready to be done with hot weather.

Talon -

Me, too - you'd be welcome! And I was tempted to grab that platter. :)

Sara -

Thank you and it will be nice.

I'll be in your neck of the woods this weekend - looking forward to it.

Small things are the best, I think.

I would think it would be cold enough where you live.

And there I was. :)
