- My plastic pumpkin and I are ready for trick-or-treaters tomorrow night! Last year I only had one child come by, so the mom got a pocketful of candy, too.
- Lots going on in that photo above. The buffet (along with the out of sight dining table) belonged to my grandparents. My uncle Carl refurnished their home for them in appreciation (years and years and years ago) after they helped put him through Georgia Tech. I still can't believe it's mine. And the painting above it came with it. The colors in my living room and dining room reflect the colors of that beautiful countryside in the painting. The blue and white bowl was found at a friend's antique shop years ago and I believe is one of those things one would have washed up in.
- Getting all the plants indoors, but knowing the potted rosemary bush will be OK outdoors for the winter. And I love the whiff of rosemary I get from it when I walk by it when I'm coming and going.

That buffet is stunning, Lynn! Oh, they used to make such character-filled furniture.
The pumpkin looks right at home there!
I love this post. It's such a homey piece and gives me a glimpse into your life and the things important to you.
I hope you have more kids tomorrow! The same thing happens to me. I end up too many bags of candy all the time. I have to make JC take to work so I will NOT eat it:~)

Ahhh, there I am! :)
I'm with ya on that rosemary whiffing, lets ya know everything really is alright in the world.
And OMG, we had a dresser, must've been the same pattern as your buffet -- identical except ours had drawers. We usually don't get any trick-or-treaters. They host a big Halloween blast at the park all the local kids attend, big candy fest there. Good thing no candy to buy -- I'd end up eating mostly all by myself. :) I love your lovely home. And your lovely self!!

Happy Halloween Lynn! I hope more wee ones visit you this year. Such a beautiful piece of heirloom furniture there!
I'm not ready yet-
I brought in the Lavender n Thyme, they would already be frosted if they were still outside! Very few Petunias n Marigolds are still alive tho-
I love the smell of my herb plants too-
Old furniture, old houses, old china - they all (in my eyes) have infinitely more charm than the more modern things.
I like your old fashioned plastic pumpkin. It's just like we used to trick-or-treat with!
Your Uncle Carl was a wonderful son to show his appreciation to his parents like that. And it's wonderful the pieces have stayed in the family.
Have a Happy Halloween....No one comes to my door anymore---I think the kids who live up here on the hill are driven to a neighborhood in the "Flats"..... I don't even bother to get Candy anymore because I will be the one eating it all....LOL!
Lovely Lovely Heirlooms, my dear.

They did - I do love it. It looks richer in person - I had to turn on the chandelier over the table in order to get enough light for the photo. (I guess I could have moved the pumpkin, but it's been sitting there waiting.) :)

Thank you. I love my home - sometimes I wish I was in it more often. :)
I hope I have enough candy in case more kids show up. Oh my - the lights would have to go out!
Jannie -
There you are! It's good to see you, my friend.
That buffet has multiple drawers - they look rather flush there in the photo. It's crammed full of stuff.
I hope you and your lovely self have a great Halloween!

Snaggle -
Happy Halloween to you! I put the remaining basil in the windowsill, but I doubt it's good for use at this point.
Elephant's Child -
Yes - I love things that have age on them the most, too.
Leonora -
I thought it was nice, too. He's still a treasure (and the only one left.) He was 10 years younger than my mom and I always adored him.
Naomi -
I'll bet it was fun coming to your house trick or treating back when they did!
We had no trick-or-treaters at all! Probably because Mr. RK bought three bags of candy.
Riot Kitty -
Hopefully it's candy you like! :)
I'm glad to say no one came to our door on Halloween in the US. Mind you we live in a Gated community, so that may be why, and we were out for the evening too. :D
I do like candy though. ;D
I love that list and don't you wish it was true - party every night!
