To celebrate Earth Day, Friday, April 22, I went back to another spring, five years ago, for some photos that make me smile this morning:
- Sunrise at my sister and brother-in-law's farm in Jefferson county, Florida. Niece Amanda will be married on this spot, just before sunset, next March.
- This bird had a nest in the fern hanging by my front door. She flew out as I was coming in with packages, keeping a vigilant eye on her nest. I had to water that plant very carefully, I remember - keeping the water to one edge of the plant. The plant lived though and when I got home from an out of town trip around the first of May that year, the baby birds had left the nest.
- Poppies from the mountain property that I love to visit in the Nantahala forest.
Happy Earth Day everyone!

Happy earth day!
What a beatific smile!
Oh how I love Martha Lou! Yes you must frame her picture. She reminds me of my paternal grandmother Myrtle. We are having too much rain this week for me to get out and enjoy nature so glad I can share yours.
Oh! Do enlarge that photo Lynn! It is great! I have one, too, of my Mother that I need to do this with. It is of her as about an 8 year old girl...with her head bent over a lovely old stone bird bath....drinking the water!
BTW, any local news about the concert that Prince gave in Atlanta (one of his last) in your papers?
Have a great weekend, too! Karen
Sage -
And also to you. I need to play a little catching up on your A to Z.
Debra -
Wasn't she lovely? And this after her first husband (my great grandfather) abandoned the family, moved to another state, married another woman and had two more children. She had to work hard to keep the family together and my grandfather had to drop out of school when he was in the 8th grade to work. Just terrible. So I admire her doubly for that.
Granny Annie -
I also love when you come by - hope that rain lets up soon!

I plan to - I want to see that photo of your mom.

Belated Happy Earth day back to you, Lynn. We celebrated by calling the younger daughter in PA as it was her birthday. And, yes do get that photo framed ASAP.
And a wonderful area for a wedding ceremony to be conducted it will be!
