Waiting, watching and swoon!

I wish I had this guy's energy! It was fun to watch him herding and directing people in front of The Fox Theatre in Atlanta, while I was waiting for friends to arrive to join me in watching a play.  He chatted me up at one point - his name badge says he is "Top Hat Bob."  A very nice man and lots of fun to watch.

The view to the left.  I love the old mosque-style design.  It's always fun to people watch, but I was happy to see friends' faces when they arrived.

And this is what we saw.  Swoon!  I adored it.  My late father was a Gershwin fan and I know every word to a lot of musical numbers (from hearing his records played).  My favorite:  "They Can't Take That Away From Me."  Here's a link to Fred and Ginger singing and dancing to it. 

The weekend is upon us!  I am glad to see it.  I hope you have a wonderful one, my friends!

The Grinch, little hecklers and whitewashing

- A delightful evening with the Fun Girls seeing "How The Grinch Stole Christmas!" - the national touring company's "show on the road" at The Fabulous Fox Theater.  A favorite moment:  when the audience was invited to sing "You're a Mean One, Mr. Grinch" with the lyrics displayed on colorful pull down banners and flipped over pillows.  :)

- The actor Stefan Karl as The Grinch was as Grinchily Grinch-like as one could want.  Another favorite moment:  he just couldn't seem to spit out the word Christmas when he was trying to say Merry Christmas to The Whos and the children in the audience started calling out "Christmas!"  He heckled them back with glaring mock sternness saying, "Where are your parents!!!"

- It's the 176th birthday of another famous American curmudgeon, Mark Twain.  Check out the Google home page today for Tom Sawyer supervising the painting over of the Google logo.  :)   Mark Twain on finding just the right word, "The difference between the right word and the almost right word is the difference between lightning and a lightning bug."

Rainy days, uplifted and generosity

- A rainy rainy weekend - perfect for catching up on DVR'd programs. A Craig Ferguson marathon provided rolicking laughter.

- Feeling uplifted by the guest minister at church who wowed everyone by standing anywhere but behind the pulpit during his sermon.

- The mail brings an invitation to a special lady's 80th birthday party. And all she wants is a birthday note and a non-perishable food item for the local food pantry.

Memory, pretty drink and misbehaving

- A funny mid-day conversation with my sister. Me: "Is mom and dad's post office box number 178 or 179?" Her: "Neither. It is either 172 or 174. I can look it up at home and call you back." I just wanted to make sure my mother's birthday card got there on the day and took a chance on 172.

- A perfectly made Cosmopolitan on a really cold night. Such a pretty drink.

- Seeing "Ain't Misbehavin" at the Fox Theatre with the Fun Girls, who once again lived up to their name.
