Bowl of deliciousness, new mama and a good thing

- This bowl of deliciousness was my dinner.  My sister asked if I had any special requests for Thanksgiving and I said, "brussel sprouts."  She replied, "But then you would be the only one eating them."  Sigh.  They don't know what they are missing.  I roasted them in my grandfather's cast iron skillet per the Simply Recipes blog.  Click here for the recipe.  I roasted them about five minutes longer than the recipe says to get that extra brown color.

- More from the weekend:  I ask my niece, Monroe's mother, what he will call her.  She says she actually hadn't thought about that and went over the possible choices.  She settles on "Mama" - "yes, that feels right."

- After a not so good day at work, a coworker reminds me to watch "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" as I am leaving.  I reply, "that's a Good Thing" automatically.  :)

Perfect match, gratitude and legacy

- A cat named Jackson, who has one blue eye and one green eye. He chose to perch on a blanket that perfectly matches one of his eyes.

- Receiving thank you notes in the mail on the same day from two nieces, one recently married and the other about to give birth. Our mother instilled the practice of writing personal gratitude notes on us early on and it is lovely that my sisters have instilled that in their daughters, as well. Both notes contained a thank you for the gift, how much they would enjoy using it and a few lines about the gift giver.

- Sharing the legacy my father instilled in me in a meeting in which we are sharing information that might help us acquire more customers for the printing company. I tell them that my father finds something nice to say to everyone he meets and I always try to do the same whether someone turns into a customer or not.

Inspiration, favorite and no worries

- Inspiration from this church sign spotted in the nether regions of North Georgia. In my family, there is a bit of a propensity to worry.

- Shelby to M'Lynn in a family favorite film Steel Magnolias: "Mama, you worry too much. In fact I never worry 'cause I always know you're worried enough for the both of us." My niece wrote this in a card to my sister.

- From my Franklin Covey planner from May 27, this quote from Winston Churchill: "When I look back on all these worries I remember the story of the old man who said on his deathbed that he had had a lot of trouble in his life, most of which had never happened."
