Atlanta rhythm, eclectic irreverent and waving

- Mr C's sign fit right in with the rhythm of the day on this section of Howell Mill Road in Atlanta. Blue skies, a nice strong cafe latte, and the weekend looming.

- Friends told me about an "eclectic irreverent" radio station that they know I will love, AM 1690 WMLB in Avondale Estates, Georgia, "The Voice of the Arts." They play really retro music, just now "It's Only a Paper Moon" and just before that a song called "Lucky Lips." My favorite thing: they announce a "cubicle dance" song sometime in the 9am hour. I keep missing it, but you know I'll totally dance when I hear it. :)

- It is the final weekend for the 2010 Olympics and I have so enjoyed the small viewings that I have managed to get in. But no matter what country the medalists come from, I love watching them remember they are there to represent their countries as they wave their flags.

It's the weekend, friends! I hope your weekend is jammed with good things!

"Lucky Lips" was covered here in the 60's by a guy called Cliff Richard but I'm assuming you heard the original version by Ruth Brown? She had such a great voice.

Have a rockin' good weekend Lynn!

I love stations like that - diverse and eclectic and definitely would have the type of music you can do some serious cubicle jiving to. I hope you catch it on Monday!

The Olympics have been awesome. I'll be going into a blue funk when they're over. :(

Have a stupendous weekend, Lynn!

Hey, special lady...

...hanging over a cardboard sky, right??

Will you be recording a video for Sami's "The Levity Project" car dancing!? Kelly and I did a short one and submitted it.

I'm all verklempt now just thinking of the pride being in the Olympics, and all the hard work that preceeds it. Pretty special -- like you !!

Joe -

I can't honestly say I know - it was on the play list without a name attached, but it was a woman, so it was probably Ruth Brown. I caught the tail end of it.

I'm impressed that you know that! Hope your weekend is rockin' too!

Mama Zen -

You know I will! You, too!

Talon -

I hope to do that. :) Dancing and having a stupendous weekend! The Olympics has been so great - I have enjoyed the games immensely.

Jannie -

That's the one! No - I have been so slammed with stuff to do that I couldn't wrap my head around do that, but it looked so fun and I can't wait to see you and Kelly car dancing. xoxoxo

Riot Kitty -

Mr C's sure has some personality, huh?

I do miss the Atlanta rhythm, it's so good to pick up the vibes from you, even at a distance. :)

I will have to check out that station next time I'm in town. Eclectic and "arts station" sound right up my alley. (And oh, I hope you dance at least once.)

It seems impossible the Olympics can already be over. They pack so much into such a short time!

I love the area I work in - northwest Atlanta. Lots to do and see.

Hey - I put a link to the station - I think you can listen to it over the internet. Check it out - it is great fun.

I am excited about the gold medal men's hockey game tomorrow. And then that is it, I guess.

The sign makes me think of the one we saw in front of the church in NYC: "Try something different for lunch" and then listed the times for Eucharist!

Lady M -

Pretty clever of that church. :)

Do you drink Champagne? So far I only have it at weddings.
Lucky to find a good radio station for work. At my job radio was banned almost two years ago- due to complaints. I really miss it. I'm going to miss Olympics on late night tv- back to boring shows after work.
Have a good week-end yourself-

The artist crew at my old job listened to MP3 players with headphones - we had to ban "out loud" radios because everyone had different tastes in music. I'll bet that's what happened at your place, too?

I just drink champagne for special occasions like weddings, but I usually have a bottle of Prosecco in the fridge - I like it much better.

Mr Cs was probably referring to the old song by the Atlanta Rhythm Section "Champagne Jam" with the chorus "we're gonna have us a champagne jam" song over and over. Can't think what they might have been celebrating - maybe an anniversary.

Yes - I use that for anything to do with my job that turns into fun. Friday was definitely a fun day. Meeting about a museum booklet we will print and then touring the Warhol exhibit with no other patrons around. Alone with artwork - it feels as if you are with friends.
