Mirepoix, inclusion and beam

- Making a Lentil Stew recipe recommended by Elise on Simply Recipes and finding that I have made a Mirepoix after sauteing diced carrots, celery and onions together. Such a beautiful word and they look so pretty together.

- Having been unofficially adopted by friends Barbara and Norman long ago, smiling at an email yesterday in which I am included with their actual kids and she signs off, "Love, Mom."

- During the church service, a ray of sunlight beams across the golden communion cup and the reflection of the "Ordinary Time" green parament onto it gives it a green and gold glow. Just for a moment and then it is gone.

Oh that ray of sunlight must've been magical!!

I remember being on this computer a few weeks back when a ray of sunshine caught something on the floor way off to my left, which turned out to be a single blue sequin, showering a whole prism of light across the room. So lovely, for the 2 minutes or so it lasted.

I love those short bursts of color like you described in church. Just magical - and they never last long enough to photograph.

The food looks very healthy. :D

How cool that your friends sent an email like that. I bet you did smile. :)

Mama Zen -

I thought so, too.

Jannie -

It was magical and I leaned over to point it out to my friend Susan. Your prism sounds magical, too!

Blue Bunny -

That is right up your alley, isn't it?

Riot Kitty -

You know I would have whipped out my camera if I could. :)

Joe -

She was filling everyone in on a doctor appointment result - it did make me smile. The two of them are sort of like my family in town. (Since my own family are all miles and miles away.)

Such beauty you evoke with your momentary ray of sun.

I love throwing the word "mirepoix" around in cooking conversation. It is a cool word and using it always makes me feel like I know what I'm doing, even when I don't. And a mirepoix in the pot smells so delicious, it kind of gives you confidence for whatever recipe step comes next. :)

I love cooking terms - they sound so impressive. You sure do a nice uniform dice job on your veggies!

There's family and then there's chosen family :)

It's lovely to catch a beam of light and enjoy the magic it creates.

I confess that I did not know the word Mirepoix, but look forward to throwing the word around. :) I just spotted it in the description of the recipe.

I am so lucky to have my family and yes - chosen family.

Oddly - I just ran into them this evening when I was out to dinner with another friend. They are so lovely.

I'm familiar with the food combo, but didn't know that word! thanks for enlightening me.
I have a few "adopted" folks in my life also, n all are wonderful additions to make to life connections. Wish I had more time to spend with my folks...
Light does have the magic to transform objects. Nifty n fitting- I have a habit of playing with reflections, sunshine, mirrors, n prisms...
