- A meeting in this room at church reveals astonishing purple walls in varying shades being applied to them. It is a work in progress and one of the volunteer painters clearly has a sense of humor.
- Stopping by fast food Wendy's for a quick lunch with my mother and the puzzled look from the young order taker when mom asks for margarine for her baked potato. "Margarine," she repeated. A shake of the head. "Do you know what margarine is?" I ask. No, he doesn't. Wow - now I really feel old. And Wendy's calls it "buttery spread."
- My mom, perusing the TV schedule for Olympic coverage, and calling out with excitement, "Curling! I LOVE curling!"

That definitely is one way to feel old.
Another is doing payroll for supevisors who weren't even out of diapers when you were just a junior/seior in high school.

I hear you. And a Google search of margarine finds a website: www.margarine.org and its slogan "Today's buttery spreads are not your mother's margarine." :)
Yay for curling!! Jim's nephew is an avid curler.
And me too, when I really want my hair to look good.

lol @ the wall message!
We're not old - we're experienced. :)
Glad your Mom got to watch curling though we've been debating the real athletic value re: Olympic in our household for the last few days - lol!

I flat out do not understand what makes curling a sport. But it is kind of fun to watch. One of the Olympic teams has cool pants, too. xoxoxo

Isn't that wall funny? Someone must have gotten purple paint on sale or something. They have about three different shades going.
Geez I feel old too. Still when we are in the States we ask for a great many things that you Americans don't understand!
Love the wall. :D
My first paid for article was about curling! Curling in Morocco no less. I love curling too. Great purple walls.

I would love to know what you ask for that we don't understand. We had a funny thing happen in London when we called room service at our hotel and ordered up late night dessert. We said, "hold the whipped cream." Meaning, don't put any whipped cream on it. And they didn't understand and put extra whipped cream.
I liked that wall, too.

Curling in Morocco - wow. A great story there, no doubt.
He didn't know what margarine is? I'm nonplussed.
Your mom is so cute! "Buttery spread"? Now I feel old, too. I suppose soda is sugary water?
Aw, who doesn't love curling? ;) (Actually, I can't help it, the whole sport seems mildly absurd to me, brooms and stones and what's the point? Which is why I like curling, LOL.)
So strange about the margarine. I've just recently gotten my mother to switch off margarine for health reasons, and stick to butter in moderation, which has made my dad super happy (he conveniently forgets the *moderation* part sometimes ;). F. and I plan to attempt to make our own butter from raw milk once this season, just for an experiment. (Last year's experiment was cream cheese and whey. He loved the result; I thought it was horror-story material!)
But I thought everyone knew what margarine was... sheesh!

He didn't. And nonplussed is a great word! We were nonplussed, too.

Thank you - my mom is SO cute. I wonder if it is one of those things like calling prunes "dried plums." I guess they have taken the hydrogenation out of margarine and now it is just a buttery spread.

Curling must be one of those Olympic traditions. I'm thinking even I might be able to do that, but I am certain there is a fine art to it. :)
I use that spread that has olive oil in it, or butter. I will love reading about your butter making - hopefully you'll tell all on your blog?
Oooo I'd love to graffetti the church walls without getting in big trouble!
When the girls were here, we grafettied the whole place before painting- with lighter color. It's alot of fun! Who desn't like P Flyod?
Tell mom to say "Fake butter" for now on!
I missed the curling! Wah- I like it too- so funny to watch- so difficult to figure out. I heard one team had far-out pants.

My (ex) husband and I were painting an accent wall brown once and I painted my name across it before we got started. It appeared through the finished wall, so he had to do one other coat to get rid of it. :)
