Camellias, 45s and leaving on a jet plane

- Cold loving camellias at the corner of my sister's house. My grandmother had a similar one at her home in Macon, Georiga, and it was still blooming last time I drove by the house.

- The little thrill that I get to keep my father's collection of 45 records. So much great music - The Glenn Miller Orchestra, Elvis, Al Jolson, etc. etc. They are put away lovingly for now until I figure out how to play them. :)

- Preparing for a trip to meet up with family. And hoping I can get away with a carry-on zip up tote bag that has my purse inside + an extra pair of shoes. Someone will tell me?

Have a great end of the week and weekend, my friends! I will return to posting on Tuesday, but expect to be able to check blogs and comments while I'm away.

Have a safe and sane trip to wherever your destination is and hope you come back refreshingly recharged and ready to face the world again with a twinkle in your eye and a bounce in your step.

Good and happy flying, my Lynn. I have travelled carry- on only now for a few years, and it's grrreat. The closer to the front of the line for your boarding section, the better chance you have at bin storage.

I hear turn tables are making a comeback!

My goodness, air travel has become such a trial, hasn't it?

I will miss your posts, but have a wonderful trip, Lynn. :-)

Have a fabulous time, won't you! Bring back some Thanksgiving turkey for me? :P

The carry-on is a good plan. Hope your trip is lovely! Sounds like you'll need a turntable to really enjoy your Dad's 45s.

The camellia looks brave to me :)

G -

I like the sound of that and that's the plan. :)

Jannie -

I have a turntable that is hooked up - I still have the full stereo component set (though it is rarely used.) My sister thinks I can get some sort of adapter for my turntable that plays 45s. I haven't looked into it that closely.

FB -

A little, but at least you can carry on tweezers now. :)

Thank you - I could probably post while I'm away, but I don't like to use someone else's computer for the photo downloading and editing, etc.

Tony -

Oh I hope there won't be turkey. But if there is - I'll send you some. :)

I've always thought it so odd that camellias bloom in the cold weather. I think they are beautiful.

What a lovely living memento for your grandmother. :)

I have no idea about carry-on regulations now, Lynn, having stayed earth-bound for a couple of years now. Things change so fast. I do wish you safe travels and a wonderful experience!

Flowers for the cold
Records that are old
Shoes in a tote bag
Not gone long so don’t be sad

I had fun at the airport
Right through me they could see
So a penny I swallowed
And the plain had to wait for me

The flower is beautiful, Chica!

Hope you enjoy your time away...and that you get to play some of that old time r & r soon!

You are always on the go! Yes, you can do that, last time I checked. That's how I avoid the two carry-on limit.

I don't believe I've ever seen onre of those blooms close up before.
I have a whole box full of 45's from the old days myself. Still own a working turntable too. Don't dig out the vinyl very ofter, afraid of breaking the needle! Try craigs list.
The shoes will have to pass inspection, as will the ones you're wearing- n you may get x-rayed of patted down by TSA agents! Do you have any liquids in your pocket book? they also confiscate metal nail files, (My niece lost a brand new one!) razors, n sissors.
Have fun!

Woops I see you have a turntable-
I have little plastic, cheap, adapters you pop into the 45 hole to space it.

Camellias are a nice winter treat down south (but in eastern NC, I don't remember them blooming before February). Have a safe and enjoyable trip.

You should be fine travelling with that on a flight, as long as your hand luggage can go in the overhead compartments and you don't have more than one piece of hand luggage.

I've always had music systems with a turntable! I love my vinyl!

Have a wonderful trip!

Oh I just read your comment here. You can either buy plastic inserts for the 45's if the middle section has been punched out, or the player normally has a round adaptor too.

I managed to get my carry on within a carry on through.

Ellis -

lol!!! I got sent through the line with the full body scanning. I passed. :)

Lulu -

I can't wait to try those records out!

Riot Kitty -

I am - I am loving this trip. :)

Snaggle -

I made it through OK - a little more difficult these days, but it's all good.

And I'll have to look for an adapter.

Sage -

I've seen a number of them around.

Joe -

I love vinyl, too - I still have all my lps.

I hope you have a great trip!!! Also, I love the camellias. All of mine are also blooming, but my favorite took a hit with the recent freeze we had. Hopefully, they'll still some buds to bloom when it warms up a bit.

Enjoy your family visit:~)

Travel safe!

What a beautiful flower! I am so thrilled to see a bloom in December.

Have fun on your trip. The camellia is pretty. You can get that little round disk to hold the 45 in. My husband collects vinyl LPs. It's the only format of music he listens to!!

Sara -

I hope your camellia recovers. I do love them.

Mama Zen -

Home now. I had a wonderful time.

Sparkling Red -

I like that, too.

Wendy -

Hmmm. So where do I get that round disk? The internet, I'm thinking.

lg -

I had a wonderful time. I am home and will blog about it tomorrow a.m.

Jannie muffin -

I am home safe and sound. It took six hours - walking to Grand Central Station, the shuttle to LaGuardia, waiting waiting for Zone 4 to begin boarding, the shuttle to my car and home sweet home.

Hope you are having a great day. xo

Wow look at all these comments!
Glad you are home safe!
I've heard it's freezing cold in Atlanta! Hope you're staying warm-

It is freezing cold in Atlanta - in the 20s this morning. What's that about?
