The thought for the H post began back in February when I announced I would be doing the A to Z Blogging Challenge. Mama Zen said, "That challenge sounds pretty cool! Think you could throw a haiku or two in
there for Fireblossom?" And so, with the help of my friend Kim from Talon, here are Haiku about three Heirlooms I find pleasure in. The only Haiku you'll ever see here. :) Thank you to Kim for writing the Haiku for me - she was so inspired by my topic of Heirlooms that she wrote four of them!
Some of my late grandmother's "estate" jewelry. Two Haiku for this one:
semi-precious stones
sparkle in their nesting box
warming memory
sparkle in their nesting box
warming memory
a child peruses
a filigree treasure trove
delightful dress-up
Heirloom tomatoes from Star Provisions in Atlanta. Yummm...
Aunt Ruby’s gems glow
thick sliced on the cutting board
tasty red heirlooms
conversation flows
tinkle of spoons on saucers
an afternoon tea

You did well on the Haiku. Not an easy task and to include the heirlooms was a double challenge.

The tea haiku was my fav. I think you rocked the haikus and the heirlooms. The tomatoes surprised me as well as delighted me. :)

I think I didn't make it clear enough that Kim wrote the Haiku for me, so I went back and updated my comment at the top. I asked Kim in an email if she would write a Haiku for me and she said, "Sure - just give me a topic." I walked around my house looking for H inspiration and hit upon Heirlooms, because I have so much of my grandmother's sparkly jewelry. And then jokingly told her that I also thought of Heirloom Tomatoes and then there were my Heirloom teapots. She said she felt inspired to give me four. I owe her big!
Oh and the "dress up" Haiku came about when I mentioned that when my grandmother died, my mom was planning to let the grandchildren play dress up with that jewelry. Oh no - it went home with me and I wear it. :) Every time there's a fancy event (not that often) I wear one of those brooches with the matching earrings.

Enjoyed this post. I love haiku. I think it is fun to challenge myself to sum things up within the 3 line structure. Really makes you boils things down to the heart.

I remember one dress I used to like to play dress up in that belonged to my grandmother - she made it to wear to a picnic, but didn't have time to work the buttonholes and so she pinned it. She never did make the buttonholes. Like you - I wonder what happened to it.
