K is for Knock Out, Krispy Kremes and Kale

- Neighbor Marion's Knock Out Roses.  Or as Phaedra from The Real Housewives of Atlanta called them on a recent episode, "Knock 'em out roses".  (Love her!)  These are easy roses to grow and to take care of - Marion is training them to go up a trellis.  I like them because they are beautiful and a bit wild looking - often seen growing along fences in the countryside.

- Photo by someone other than me.  :)  These were the Easter Krispy Kreme donuts.  Do you have those in your area?  I love them so much that I try not to drive by there.

Here's a link to a recipe for Crispy Kale at the Steamy Kitchen.

- Kale has become known as a super food, but I've been eating it for a long time.  As far as restaurants go, for me it was most frequently seen as a garnish on the salad bar at my former office building.  Here's a link to the nutritional value to this super food.  I bought the large bag of precut, prewashed kale recently and have put it in mashed potatoes to make Colcannon (twice), sauteed it, braised it and now made Crispy Kale.  And there's still some left over!  I expect I am very healthy now, but all things considered, I'd probably rather have a Krispy Kreme. :)

It's Day 11 of the A to Z Blogging Challenge - featuring the letter "K".  Three things that give me pleasure.  Thanks for coming by!

Your plants are way ahead of ours here up North. Pretty rose- wish I had some. Our Easter donuts were so time consuming to paint, the week was hours of aggrivation longer than needed. I'd rather have crispy creme! n those designs too-
Kale must be high in iron too- I could use more energy this week...

Not come across roses by that name - they're pretty, though.

Agh - get thee behind me, Krispy Kremes! These are beginning to be more prevalent in the UK.....

As for Kale - can't say I've tried it, but it's a great 'success' crop for my daughter - she makes it into smoothies when there's a glut! (eeeuw!)

BTW - thanks for stopping by my blog earlier - much appreciated! Happy A-Z'ing!

SueH I refuse to go quietly!

Knock out roses a winner. Kale a winner. You can Keep Krispy Kreme. Not a fan.

We had a Krispy Kreme here in Connecticut, but it came at a time in which the company was going through a lot of turbulence (this was in the 90's) and market missteps, and they eventually close the only store that was here (at least I think it was the only store in Connecticut).

well, if I had to decide between the kale and the donut? Ummm, no contest; the donut wins out! Lovely flowers and great K words!

I'm drinking kale juice and dreaming of that Krispy Kreme. Those are looking good. However, my kale juice is feeding my BRAIN.

Like like your 3 "K's" today, Lynn. :-)

Ooooo, I'm gonna get me my greens tonite! Maybe not kale but I do have some nice gren leaf lettuce
as a base for a fabulous salade. That's "salad" to all you non-French bloggers.

Yes, I've been to the Krispy Kreme "factory" here in Austin. It's a wonder, a vacation, a spellbinding experience. Production from 5:00 to 10:00 a.m. and p.m daily.

GORGEOUS rose, but not quite as gorgeous as you.

xxoo

That is one big jump from Krispy Kreme to Kale. I prefer the doughnuts, altho I know the other is better for me.

Three great K topics!

I would adore having some knock-out roses growing around here but the only flowers are those that grow wild and were here before me. Current floral beauties around our place are Irises and the white blossoms of the blackberry bushes.

"Stand behind me Satan and don't push" is all I can say about those Krispy Kremes. Yikes, Lynn you are the devil!

Well I guess you did redeem yourself by trying to make the kale sound yummy and tempting but after the donuts it's a losing battle.

Riot Kitty -

Don't they though?

Snaggle Tooth -

I wonder if you ever want sweet baked goods since you work with them all the time.

I suggest Kale!

Sue H -

A kale smoothie. Oh my. I can't say I just love that Crispy Kale - if you look at the link her kids look like they love it. They must not get Krispy Kremes.

The Elephant's Child -

It's good that we all have such different tastes, I guess.

G -

That's amazing.

Tracy -

That was a bit of a stretch - putting those K things together. :)

happygirl -

Absolutely - I wonder how that juice tastes? Hmmm.

lg -

Thank you!

Jannie -

Ah - you are the gorgeous one! We have a Krispy Kreme "factory", too - love to watch that process. Love it even more when the Hot Light is on!

xoxoxo

Susan -

I'm having kale again tonight. Sigh.

Matthew -

Thank you!

Granny Annie -

lol! You are so funny - I know, but it was hard finding K things! The A to Z Challenge is hard! (Just kidding - but sometimes it's hard thinking of three things. :))

I'll bet those wild iris are lovely - I love to see the bulb flowers popping up by the side of the road.

Kale - more tonight, I guess.

Kale and Krispie Kremes - very interesting pair.

Love the roses! I miss gardening my roses. Can't grow 'em here in Seattle. Not enough sun. And yes, I do like Krispy Kreme, though they are a bit too "wet" for me. Only ever had kale in soup.

I'm a new follower via the A to Z Challenge. Nice to meet ya.

I'll take Krispy Kremes over kale any time!

I know. And yet I would.

It'll take a lot of Kale to counter act a Krispy Kreeme donut! I like the sound of your kale recipe

Mmmmmm...we love roasted kale, when it gets all crispy. Yum.

We used to have Krispy Kremes too, but they all closed. Makes me sad. The kale's better for me anyway.

Swinging through from the A to Z page. Good luck on the rest of the challenge!

I used to go to Krispy Kreme all the time when I lived in another area. There's a store here, but I haven't been there in quite a while, and for some reason, the supermarkets don't seem to carry their products.
