- Stopping by a 100 year old farm, that sells vegetables grown without chemicals, and scoring these beautiful carrots. It was late in the day and the pickings were slim, so the farmer said he could go pull some carrots if I liked. They are so beautiful with the greens still attached.
- After I had eye surgery last year, a lady from my church called and said she wanted to bring over soup. "It was only eye surgery," I said, but told her to come along. It was a pureed carrot soup with garam masala, a spice from India. Delicious. I have found a recipe and that's probably what will happen to those carrots tonight. You can view the recipe here.
- Why didn't I just make the soup yesterday? Because I decided to have a lazy, movie watching day and had breakfast at dinner time. It was wonderful. :)

Breakfast at dinner is always cool. :D
I am afraid we are not big carrot fans. The soup looks like baby food to me so maybe I could just add curry to carrot baby food and avoid all the trouble. Just kidding:) It was certainly nice of the farmer to pick you some carrots. They are beautiful.
We do, however, love breakfast for dinner and certainly always have plenty of eggs:)
What movies did you watch?
Sweet and spicy carrot soup sounds delicious, but pancakes for dinner... heavenly. :)
Whenever I see carrots like this, with their leaves on, it reminds me of Captain Kangaroo and the little bunny puppet that was always stealing carrots.
#3's lazy day sounds really nice. Any movie recommendations??

Cheese grits and bacon. Yum. :) I didn't have eggs because I had already had some at actual breakfast.
Granny Annie -
Carrots just out of the ground are sweet and delicious. lol at the soup looking like carrot baby food. :)

Pancakes. Hmmm.

Bunny Rabbit from Captain Kangaroo! I had forgotten about that. :)
See above in reply to Granny Annie - both of those films are marvelous.
Hi Lynn - fresh carrots are so delicious .. and those look wonderful specimens ... Carrot soup too with a touch of Indian spice = delicious ..
Cheers Hilary
I'd love a lazy day but guilt always wins.
The carrots look wonderful. Enjoy your soup!!
Beautiful carrots! That's one thing that I've never been able to grow.
Lazy daya are a wonderful gift. I am not a fan of cooked carrot - but love them raw, and those do look delicious.
I am just starting to pick things from our vegetable garden. Yesterday it was butter beans which had grown through a sage bush and were most deliciously scented and flavoured. I had never thought of sage and beans before - but know better now.
What movie did you watch? I just watched "The Artist"...twice. I loved it.
Lazy days are good! And I'd have people cook for me even without surgery ;)
PS You are a better person than me. We sniffed garam masala and just about keeled over.
What movie did you watch, Lynn!? Those are surely gorgeous carrots. We use garam masala in Indian dishes. :-) Hope you are well Lynn! Did you see that Talon posted a note??!
I always put the carrot greens in water on my table because I like them, n try to grow carrot seeds if I remember not to let them dry out... I grew tiny carrots this year. Thanks for the recipe, sounds good!
Glad you get in some movie time- Wish I could be more unhurried this week-
Hilary -
I ended up steaming some of them for dinner last night. They were perfectly sweet.

I'm so busy during the week that I do that for myself sometimes. I work from 7:30am until at least 5pm and then have activities after work most nights, so a day off is such luxury.
Mama Zen -
Hmmm - wonder what the trick is?
The Elephant's Child -
What a lovely thing - sage and butter beans!

I love those all-day-in-pajamas kind of days and I checked out the link/recipe for the carrot soup. Looks healthy and delicious...perfect for our New Year's resolution to eat healthier!
I had to come back and comment on Leonora's comment. Loved remembering bunny rabbit on Captain Kangaroo and those carrots that did look just like yours. LOL
Betty -
I agree - I guess it depends on the soup.
Big hugs to you!
Sandie -
Me, too - too few and far between.

I am doing pretty well so far, but gave in and had some chocolate on Monday. :)
Granny Annie -
I know - I had forgotten that, too. Bunny Rabbit's carrots did look just like that. :)
Oh Wow I love the colours of the carrots :D
Do you think she brought carrot soup because the surgery was on your eyes?
Sounds like a wonderful farm. And soup!
