- But back at home, finding nothing whatsoever at all to do after a busy, busy day at work, leads to a contented settling in to read, which leads to a nap instead.
- "Good friends, good books, and a sleepy conscience: this is the ideal life." - Mark Twain.
I'm still pondering that quote. Love the good friends and good books part, but the sleepy conscience bit has me scratching my head. :) Here's what my conscience is happy about - the weekend! I've worked hard and can't wait to get started. I hope yours is wonderful, my friends.

I can relate to the "sleepy conscience" part because mine never sleeps. My conscience is always active and prodding me about something.
That Florida seaside photo would be a nice screensaver to savor.
Mark always had a great way with words--sleepy conscience, he probably chuckled knowing that people were scratching their heads over that... In a few weeks I'll begin teaching a class on Mark Twain and the American West and am looking forward to spending more time with an old friend.
Seems to me you have a great weekend ahead. sandie
I think Twain should have used the word "quiet"...cuz we certainly don't want to be taking any guilt trips on the weekend! :)
I agree with Annie about the conscience too. Not sure if that's good or bad!
Have a great weekend, sleepy or not.
I would love to have a sleepy conscience which would let me be, and not interfer with my sleep or relaxation. Mark Twain was a very, very clever man.
Reads that turn into naps are quite nice at times! Add a warm, cuddly cat to that mix and you're a goner. At least I am.
Another happy memory of your Seaside walk- I hope it stays with you awhile longer. I could use more napping myself- I think a sleepy conscience lets you eat chocolate more than you should! Enjoy your week-end.
Haven't done the nap thing while reading in quite sometime, but a sleepy conscience can definitely be a game changer. :D
Reading and napping sound like a wonderful way to spend the afternoon!
what's better than good friends and good books.
oh lynn, your weekend sounds great to me!
big hugs~
Reading often leads to naps, for me!
Granny Annie -
I might do that screensaver thing.
My conscience is usually active, too, but right now there's really nothing to be prodded about. Although I really should visit my aunt in Macon, Georgia. :)

That's awesome that you are teaching that class! I wish I could come to it.

It's been nice so far. :)

Exactly!

I think it is what it is. I hope your weekend is good, too!
The Elephant's Child -
Indeed he was. I tend to be kept awake by projects at work that aren't going well.
Riot Kitty -
How I miss my cuddly cat. Yes, that's the best.
Snaggle -
I think eating too much chocolate is a good thing. :)

Indeed. :)

And that's what I did yesterday afternoon.

Me, too. :)
I've had a busy weekend myself but I'm enjoying it immensely. I've made imperial rice for our big state championship celebration party this afternoon and I'm looking forward to having fun with the group.
Hope you enjoy your Sunday! I don't get that quote either but I guess it means you put your mind at rest, at ease, like the other quote, "don't worry, be happy" that we got from the Jamaicans.
Hi Lynn - I could easily sleep without conscience - because at that point the conscience is switched off!
Good friends and good books ... excellent idea especially on St Patrick's Day ..
Love the photo - serene ... blissful ... and warmth!
Cheers Hilary

I looked up Imperial Rice - oh my, it looks beautiful and delicious. I know they will love it.

I kind of forgot about St. Patrick's day when I was getting ready for church, but did have a bit of green in my scarf. :)
Cheers!
