Flowers in a jar, ambiance and remembrance

- This bouquet of flowers arranged in a canning jar - an impulse buy at Whole Paycheck Foods.  It made a nice splash of color on my table when the book group ladies came over, as well as benefiting the Whole Kids Foundation, which promotes healthy nutrition in schools.  I like that they promote school gardens, too.

- Walking into a client's office, at a large non-profit organization, and loving that she has a candle burning.  "It's for ambiance," she says.  The scent of vanilla followed me all the way down the hall.  Lovely.

I love candles. And book clubs!

Canning jars are the prettiest, unassuming way to display flowers. I would have bought them too : )

Seeing those flowers in my apartment would make me happy as well!

Whole "Paycheck" Foods. lol Surely the flowers were worth the cost.

Wish we had a book club around here. Maybe I should start one. However not many share my taste in literature.

Patriot's Day honored. Always a good thing.

another lol on the WF paycheck. Yet, we Austinites like to boast that WF started right here. There's an IPO I missed out on! :) I remember over 20 years ago shopping with Jim at the original little store on Lamar St. goodness. It's now a tattoo parlor. (No, not really.) :)

Canning jars are THE BEST!!

And will you now keep a lighted candle on YOUR desk?? I'm still looking for a bayberry one the EXACT scent of the one we had at home as kids. :) :)

Lest We Forget....

I know I won't...

Flowers brighten and bless anywhere (and everywhere) they are found. And a vanilla candle is a win too.

Me, too. Me, too!

Leonora -

I like it that I'll have this near cut out lidded jar for flowers now.

Joanne -

Is there a Whole Foods in NYC? I wonder if they have those arrangements there?

Granny Annie -

I sink so much money into Whole Foods. It's a great place to get a healthy takeout meal - I end up spending too much money every time.

Is there a library nearby? Sometimes they have book clubs there.

Yes - I wanted to honor the day in some way.

Jannie -

There's no relaxation where I work - I think the candles are best burned at home for me. :)

I think so, too. And yes - we remember.

Elephant's Child -

Flowers are a blessing! I love them.

Vanilla is very calming. Unlike chocolate candles, which I have had and which make me suddenly crave dessert!

Thank you for the remembrance.

The flowers are so pretty! n a good decoration plus cause. I use alot of jars for my deck flowers here- They wilt quickly, but are wonderful to see on my table. I have many colors of Petunias, orage-red Marigolds, Purple Mint, n Lavender blossoms now.

I light candles for prayer time usually. Still have an unused apple-spice one to use this fall.

Remember the souls lost on 911 Amen.

Riot Kitty -

That must be why I like it. :) A chocolate candle - that sounds nice, too.

Your flowers are so beautiful on your table, I'll bet. Nice that you can grow so well in pots.

Naomi -

Yummy indeed!

Hi Lynn - love the flowers ... and they are so bright and cheerful ...

The ambience of the candle must be such a great idea ... and then the WF supporting others ..

Remembering all those who suffer .. cheers Hilary

I have gotten out of the habit of impulse-buying flowers at the grocery store. I'm going to revive that one when the cold weather creeps back to Toronto.

I've often wondered why candles are so popular with ladies? Whenever I see one alight I have the urge to set something on fire! :D

We used to put flowers in jars when I was kid. It's kind of nice to see the being recycled, even at Whole Foods' cost.

I often light candles in the house. I like walking into a room and having smell nice. Vanilla is my favorite:~)
