Poppies (I think), passing stranger and amazing

- Poppies (I think) from the neighbor's yard in the mountains.  I see these growing in the expressway medians frequently and love that you can get such beauty so easily.

- Back at my favorite park near work on Wednesday (the only day this week I could walk outside), passing a large shaggy dog (much like Talon's Charlie), who veers away from her distracted owner to give me a quick kiss on the hand.  Much apologizing from owner, but I called back, "I loved it!"

- A wise friend says, "The world...can be so amazing."

I hope amazing things have happened to you this week.  And I hope you have a happy weekend!

Sure enough, those are poppies!I don't think I've ever noticed them this late in the season. Maybe it's the mountain climate.
My neighbor's dog gave me a lick this summer, right in my open mouth! I can't say I loved it. Then I forgot to wash my mouth out when I got home. I still shudder to think of it : )

Poppies are so beautiful and very meaningful to veterans especially. Their bright red symbolizes the blood spilled in war because of those that bloomed over some of the worst battlefields in WWI.

Dog kisses are wonderful:)

The poppies we have here are spring bloomers so it's lovely to see some so late in the summer.

Your friend is right - the world is amazing. :)

Have an amazing-filled weekend, Lynn.

Poppies are one of my favorites. The world is an amazing place. That is why I would like to see so much more of it.

It's also so calming to visit your site. Whatever "three's" you put up make me take a deep breath.

I love the dog kiss. They are good at doing that unexpectedly:~)

Your friend is right and I send your hopeful message right back to you.

Isn't it wonderful how sometimes the simplest things coming from unexpected places can just lift your spirits and make your day...!

Gorgeous! I am not sure what kind of flowers those are either, but I love poppies. Poppi was my dad's nickname when we were little.

Leonora -

I'm giggling here at the lick in the mouth. :) Hee hee.

Granny Annie -

I think so, too. And I love it when the elder veterans hand out the poppies on Memorial Day.

Talon -

It is amazing, my friend!

Me, too, but there are many amazing things right at our fingertips.

The world IS amazing!! especially with people like you in it.

I dearly love those poppies. There is a bed of them in a garden we often pass, they come back every year, so refreshing! Kelly has outgrown a dress with them all over it, keeping the dress of course, for maybe her little girl one day! :)

They look like poppies, to me; and beautiful they are.

Beauty is around us everywhere...we just have to remember to open our eyes. mind and hearts to see it.

I love poppies.

Yes the world is amazing although sometimes that gets obscured by tragedy.

Have a great weekend!

Oh my goodness, I love being greeted by friendly dogs! I usually don't encourage them actively, because I don't want to contribute to behaviour that their owner may be trying to control, but I will stand still and allow myself to be sniffed, smiling like a fool the whole time.

Mama Zen -

Thank you!

Jannie -

Same to you, my friend. And wouldn't it be fun to make a quilt of favorite clothing pieces, like the poppies?

Elephant's Child -

Fragile and cheery indeed!

I hope you are seeing beauty today!

Joe -

I never allow tragedy to obscure the beauty, although it's sadly a part of our lives.

Sparkling Red -

I agree - this one was sort of bounding around. Very cute.

Shionge -

Thank you, my friend.

Glad you get such free beauty to appreciate in the landscape there- I haven't seen poppies this year, but there's a nice traffic island of purple n white Petunias right by the bridge.
Shaggy "Charlie" dog- great story! There was a nearby Beagle so barking to meet me today, but the owner on the leash veered away across the park, so I just "Rooo-ed" back.
I've been commiserating about this place alot speaking of politics, but admitting I work with alot of good people. My week-end tired me out again. Post tomorrow night I hope.
