- Leaving midtown Atlanta around 6:45pm, the tops of the buildings all but disappear into the mist.
- Astounded by a friend's late afternoon snack in her office: pickled peppers, chocolate soy milk, red and pink M&Ms and pickled beets. A jaw dropping array. She is not pregnant, she says, this is just a collection of things she has nibbled on in the last couple of hours.
- A home town friend's mother has passed away. She was a lovely woman. I email to say how sorry I am, but also to share how her mother was my favorite teacher from long ago. When I was in the 2nd grade, she encouraged my precocious reading ability to the point that I ended up in a group by myself. She let me fly. And I love reading to this day because of that.

Wow, that later afternoon snack sounds like a stomach churner.
G -
Apparently she has an iron stomach. :)
Have you started building the Ark yet?
The soy milk was the most disgusting thing you mentioned on that menu....:-)
I love that photo!
I wouldn't mind the M&M's. :)
I'm sorry to hear about your favourite teacher. She sounds like she'll be missed.
So sorry for your friend's loss. It's amazing the impact a great teacher can have on our lives.
I'm not a fan of pickled peppers, soy milk is yucky to me, but pass the M&M's and the beets - only about 12 hours apart!
Mist is so mysterious! Great shot.
I'm sorry about your friend's mom. That's wonderful that she could be a part of your life. Her legacy lives on.
What a snack combination. I'll take the beets and pink m&ms, not necessarily together, though. :-)

I know! What is the rain about? I hear the weekend will be dry and sunny though - and a bit cooler.
I haven't had soy milk - let alone chocolate soy milk.

Thank you - I took it through the windshield which ended up giving it kind of a cool effect.
I read Mrs. Grant's obituary earlier and mentioned how many kids she had taught in 34 years.
Talon -
Oddly - I never crossed paths with Mrs. Grant again. She will always be about 30 years old in my memory. The great teachers seem to leave a legacy like that.

Isn't that the craziest food to have together? I like to make little picnics for myself sometimes, too, but it is generally Deluxe Mixed Nuts, Jarlsberg cheese and a chocolate bar. Maybe a little red wine. No beets.
Hey fellow atlantian! And why didn't you get a pic of the array of snacks! and perhaps the consumer's face LOL! M&M's would be all I would need!
I know that your friend will cherish that you shared where your passion for reading got started. What a day huh?
When I started reading your friend's snack list, I immediately thought "pregnant!" That's the only reason I could think of for such an assortment.

It has been a day. Thank you for visiting my blog - you must know where I was when I took the photo yesterday. Heading toward downtown on 14th Street at Williams Street.
I had a quick look at your blog and will be back - I like "Two Cats in the Yard." Crosby, Stills and Nash. Very cool.

When I asked if she was pregnant she said it would be a divine miracle. :)
Great photo! That is cool you had a teacher who encouraged you. Sorry she passed away.
As for your co-worker...crikey!
Great pic, really makes me feel the mist-
I'd still be pretty hungry were that my lunch- maybe a couple beets...
Sorry am important person in your upbringing left you behind. It's good to have such gratitude to treasure your experience with them for remembrance n comfort-
My older daughter is a power-reader also-

Crikey is a great word! And I agree!

A good, caring teacher can make a huge difference in childrens' lives. My sister was a pre-school teacher and was dedicated like that. She knows a zillion clever songs for kids. (She is retired now.)
ewwwww @ that snack. She MUST be pregnant!
So sorry for your friend's loss :(
Cookie -
I know. Awful.
Hope you have a great weekend!

There is no underestimating the impact teaches make on little souls.
And I've always considered you in a group by yourself ever since I've 'met' you!

Something about what you said makes me want pizza now. :)
