Swirly, laughing and gullywasher

- The glory of this maple tree against a swirly sky.

- Speaking with a client over the telephone and commiserating over the tough economy. We agree that the tough economy is not working for us and end our call laughing.

- A big soaking rain day that in the south we call a gullywasher. A great word and fits the description perfectly. :)

The tree is gorgeous against that intersting sky. A true stand-out!

Gullywasher - now that's perfection! Almost makes a rainy day sound fun!

I took that on Sunday after church. It is surrounded by maples, but so much rain is making the leaves fall too quickly (for me, anyway.)

Isn't that a great word - gullywasher? Once when it was raining hard one afternoon - I said to an Italian man I worked with, "it's a gullywasher!" He wrote the word down and went home and told his (American) wife. The next day he said, "My wife has never heard that word." I said, "because she's not from around here." So a couple of weeks later, it was raining hard again, he appeared at my office door and said, "it's a gullyshower!" Me, ROFL, "nooo - gullywasher!" I tend to take regional words for granted sometimes. :)

Thank you! You have made my day! I love that you come by every day. Check in tomorrow on the traffic ticket I just received and the positive spin I put on it. :)

Sensational pic of the tree in it's full autumn glory.

We used to have a local weather forecaster while I was growing up who would use the term "gullywhomper" for big time rain storms.

I think I'm better at finding 3 things to moan about! :D But it's great to come here and always read something positive.

Great photo. :)

Beautiful tree, sad that they are losing leaves before their time.
We had a huge storm the other night as well, must have been the same gullywasher! I'll have to remember that one.
I woke up thinking my car must have floated away in the night!

Beautiful Maple in color pic! I love when they are at least three different colors at the same time-
We get lots of those clouds around the windy shore here-

Altho we're lately not as blessed with prosperity as we'd like, we are blessed with great down-to-Earth folks to meet-

I bought some Dieney character drink in a bottle last year called a Bellywashers- Taz, Tweety, n Sylvester (for presents)

Mommanator -

I will check out your blog shortly. Yes - Clare was the inspiration for a lot of us. I thought that finding three things that give you pleasure each day would make some positive quality time. Very often I find way more than that.

G -

Gullywhomper - another great word. :)

Joe -

Thank you Joe. It is always good to see you here. I am happy you stop by each day.

Kim -

That would be a true gullywasher if it took your car. The southeast has really been inundated with rain, huh?

Meeting great down to earth people is a joy in my life. Thank you for being one of them!

That tree is just beautiful!

We call it a gullywasher here, too.

You know, I never realized that "gullywasher" was a term unique to the South! You taught me something today. Thanks :)

Love, love, love the glowing silver maple.

Mama Zen -

A pretty appropriate description. :)

Meredith -

Thank you and you taught me something, too - I didn't know that was a silver maple.
