Mind and soul, ease and simple gifts

- This thoughtful gift from friend Leisa, who looked in on Sophie while I was away. It was lovely to come in to my place last Saturday and find these CDs with a handmade card with the note, "This is some of my favorite moody music. I play it when my mind and soul just need a place to rest." Now it is some my of my favorite moody music, too.

- Admiration of the ease in which Leisa also made this Christmas ornament, something to do with glue and paint inside a clear glass ornament. It turned out beautifully and is hanging in my fake ficus tree. It will be put away for next year momentarily - I always like to have all holiday decorations down for the New Year.

- This wreath looks fake, but is real. Its lovely fragrance filled the room at my volunteer organization. My favorite Christmas gift wish this year: two little cousins, both under the age of six, asked for respectively, a book (doesn't matter what kind) and a feather. Simple gifts.

Wow, I thought the ficus was real, looks great!

Isn't it fun to have the house decorated? Leaving them up until Valentines Day would be OK just because of that. :)

That is one neat ornament. I have painted them before, but now I must try to glass glue challenge! Happy New Year.

It is so pretty - I did not retain exactly how she did it. But I am in awe.

Happy New Year to you, too!

I've done one of those paint-on-the-inside glass ornaments before. Actually, several, in blue, that my mom still uses years later. It's really fun, and yields gorgeous results, each one perfectly unique. I'm glad someone honored you with a special ornament this year.

You're just like my sister, who has to have the ornaments down and the place ready to greet the new year, swept clean of holiday debris and reminders.

May you have a great new year's eve, Lynn, with your home just as you like it, ready to greet 2010! And may the new year bring you joy!

A feather and a book - interesting choices and the simplicity is beautiful. The one that asked for the feather is defnitely an interesting child.

Fresh greens are so aromatic and just make it feel like the holidays.

I wish you only peace and joy for 2010, Lynn!

Yes - I enjoy the decorations, but am sort of superstitious about having them all put away for the new year.

May the new year bring you joy, as well!

I think it is a tribute to their parents that these two don't ask for a lot. They seems to find creative outlets for playing. We had a girl cousin gathering at their house not long ago and the one who wanted the feather asked that we all join hands and dance in a circle. And we did. A joyous child.

Sometimes these gifts can become are fav things- hope the music helps you find paradise in your day. Interesting ornaments. I got some which I hung on a chime, with pics of some grandsons glued on them. I don't even have a tree- but when I do in the future, These will be some of my favorites.
My mom always took down her tree after New Years Day. I'm really laxidaisical about undec time.
Personally, I love feathers (got tons of the found ones in here- was thinking of making a wall-piece with them featured sometime(Perhaps the child wants to tickle someone with it?)

Happy New Year!

I didn't put up a tree either this year, but will at some point again. Sounds like you and I will both be set when we do put one up.

The feather answer came when visiting with her grandmother during recent family time. What do C. and A.K. want for Christmas? Answer - A.K. just wants a book, it doesn't matter what kind. C. wants a feather.

I will ask C.'s mother about that next time we talk. Very creative gift.

Happy New Year!
