Photo op, playing games and ringing

- While photographing the Chrismon tree at church, a tiny blond head popped into the picture. She turned around and gave me a shy smile and her older sister joined her. (Their dad was chatting nearby.) The ensuing photo session was hilarious because they never stayed still. I emailed the photo session to their mother.

- In middle Georgia on Saturday, my mother sent me on errands and when I returned asked hopefully, "Do you have time for a game?" Of course I did. We played the board game, Sorry. Known as the game of "sweet revenge" - Sorry is a longtime family favorite and my mom is a ruthless player.

- Later that day, ringing the bell for the Salvation Army at Northlake Mall in Atlanta, I am impressed as always at the generosity of the youngest citizens of our city. They always like to put coins in the bucket.

The tree is lovely! I bet the mother loved the candid shots!

Sorry is a great game - so did she win?

Young people quite often get a bad rap and it's really nice to know they are generous!

Oh, hon, you are sweet. I bet Northlake Mall was crowded, too...

I love the golden head below the gold-decorated tree. So cute, and I'm glad their mom was the beneficiary of your on-the-spot, go-with-it energy. I bet the photo shoot was adorable.

We also used to play Sorry as a family. I hadn't thought of that in years. You definitely made me smile today, Lynn. :)

I haven't heard yet, but I imagine she will. They were so funny.

Yes - mom won. She is the champion of that game. :)

I agree about the young people - it is good to see that.

Meredith -

I am so glad I could make you smile and remind you of family time.

The mall was incredibly crowded for a 32 degree rainy night.

Those little girls are so sweet and cute. I loved how the little one was awed by the tree and then slowly turned for her photo op. :)

That is a beautiful tree and the picture is even cuter with that little blond head! I have a great pic from our first anniversary that we had to set up ourselves - and at the last minute my cat stuck his head up. I love it.

I know I think it is better like that, too. Your cat wanting in the photo op. Priceless!

Mama Zen -

My feet felt like two popsicles it was so cold, but I enjoyed it very much. I do it with the same friends every year.

Joe -

And she is a delightful little girl, too. :)

That is a beautiful tree. And cute story of the kids. Sounds like mine. I think my husband took 86 pictures so that we were able to get ONE that we could use on this year's Christmas card.

At one point they were on the steps sitting beside each other next to the tree and it would have been perfect, but a noise made them turn their heads just as I was snapping and then they scattered. :)

Bharat -

Thank you!

Beatiful tree!

While I was out shopping this past weekend, I came upon bellringers at the local center. They were all high-school aged BOYS, and they had the greatest rock christmas music blasting from a boom box. It was the coolest thing I had seen in a long time. I applaud their interest. And they were having a ball.

Have a great week, friend, :)

Thanks Jamie! And you, too.

My church had rang in shifts all day - the cutest was one of the little girls who rang and enthusiastically sang Jingle Bells all day.

That's one of the few board games we do not have, I loved playing it as a child. I imagine Kelly would be ruthless with it too, as she is with Trouble. But she does not take kindly to me being ruthless too. Kids!

Yes, very very beautiful tree.

Jannie -

You know - I don't have much of a competitive spirit when it comes to board games. My niece Amanda loves Monopoly. And that takes ALL DAY. I usually try to go bankrupt so it will be over. :)

I just ring the one time each year, but it is a rewarding experience. And I will forever keep change around just for dropping in the buckets.
