Cheerful, nice neighbors and dropping by

- One of my mother's teapots from the family home that is about to be sold. I chose this one to bring to my home because I got it for her in England and also for its cheerful arrangement of flowers and strawberries. Note: She is living in a tiny apartment now and was not able to take all the teapots with her.

- More from the weekend - my sister meets the neighbor across the street from the house at the mailbox. He and his wife are lovingly restoring a home that contains many memories for us. We all used to babysit over there for families that came and went. A little later there is a knock on our door - they have brought coffee and breakfast for us.

- The girls bring mom over to see the house - all staged for the real estate people - when their former housekeeper drops by. It is a happy reunion for she and mom and before she leaves, mom tells her she wants her to choose a teapot from the ones that are left. She chooses one with butterflies and flowers.

A lovely but difficult day. The gifts of teapots are delightful.

The teapot is lovely, Lynn. Did it have a note inside? I love that her collection is going into loving hands.

How sweet those neighbors were. I'm always touched by the kindness of people.

I have a teapot. It's stainless steel, and I doubt your mother would like it in her collection, even if she did have room for it. :D

Those neighbors are amazing, bringing over the breakfast. I'm glad that gave you a little lift, Lynn. My heart goes out to you in what must be a bit of a nostalgic and sad moment.

At least there's teapot love all around. The one you chose is so classy!

Granny Annie -

It was so much fun to buy them for her and she really treasured them. She ran out of room though, so we had to stop and think of of other presents. :)

Talon -

It did have a note inside - Happy Mothers Day from Lynn - 1994.

I was very touched by that, too. Nice nice people.

Jingle -

Happy Wednesday to you, too!

Joe -

Wrong - she did have a stainless steel teakettle. It was actually in use for making tea every day, unlike these more decorative
ones.

Meredith -

The most fun thing about that breakfast gift was the decadent gooeyness of the cinnamon sweet rolls they brought over and much needed coffee. It was lovely of them and reminds me that I need to do things like that more often for others.

I like that one, too. I also went home with a teapot that belonged to my grandmother. I don't know where all this stuff is going.

I envy you having so much history - and good memories - in one place. I have moved more than two dozen times in my life - I've lived in my apartment for 6 years now, which is the longest time I've lived anywhere, and I've lived in the Portland area for 9 years, which is also the longest time I've lived in one metro area.

Awesome teapot taste you have-
A shame your Mom can't keep them all- Good neighbors bearing food gifts are tough to find these days! I think it's a great idea to give the teapots to family n friends who knew your parents thru the years-
When I see some of my Mom's old friends these I tear up! I still dream about those childhood houses hung out it...

I try not to take that for granted. Although I might have envied your adventure of moving to new places - my sister's kids had that experience since they were Army kids. They lived all over the world, but also at Fort Leavenworth for a stretch - so all not such great places. :)

And I hear Portland is a great place to live. My niece lives there (think I've mentioned that over and over) - I hope to visit at some point.

Thank you - I think I chose a pretty one, too. And it's lovely to dream to childhood homes and remember friends. (I totally got what you meant - I have the split attention thing, too.)
