- A boat ride at sunset from some friends' house on Lake Sinclair in Milledgeville, Georgia, to a lakeside restaurant. A welcome break after a long day of packing and sorting.
- Admiring the way my mother made so many notes to capture memories of where things came from and who gave them to her. Her vast collection of teapots had a note inside each one.
- Visiting an uncle who has slipped into another world, and delighting in his sudden smile when he sees us. He surveys the four women in front of him and says, "You sure are pretty and you look sweet!" He was always a flatterer and no one would argue with that. :)

Lynn,
That lake view looks incredible!! What a great way to end a day! And - lovely thoughts from your mother...
A teapot collection -- how lovely! My dad's older sister, Aunt Jean, had many too.
Wonderful to see you back. I missed you!!! :)

We were so tired and it was a lovely surprise that our friends wanted to take us out on the pontoon boat. We got to see an osprey nest high up on a power pole on the way - mom and dad osprey hovering protectively around the nest.

Mom probably has 40 teapots or so. She has about 10 of them with her at the new place she is living - it is too small to accommodate more. I took two of them (one belonged to my grandmother) - so there are still a ton more. Maybe we'll put them on ebay. :)
Thank you - it is good to see you, too, my friend. xo
Your mother sounds wonderful. What a great idea to tuck notes in. And for her daughter to stumble upon them, like little happy smiles to punctuate the moment. :-)
PS You won my "Try to Remember" giveaway!! Email me your mailing address (no PO Box) at pink_ink at q dot com and I will make sure you get it.
What a gorgeous photo, Lynn. It takes me right inside it.
That is so neat - teapot notes! Your Mom is a pure gem!
I want to meet your uncle! What a great pic, and nice getaway. That sounds delightful.

Wow - I love winning books! That is so great and the one you reviewed sounds wonderful. I can't wait to get it.
And I love that thought that the notes are like happy smiles. They do feel like that.

It was a glorious evening - not a cloud in the sky, 0 humidity. Perfect really. And good shrimp and hand-cut frieds at the restaurant.

I wish you could meet him - he would smile at you and tell you how pretty you are. He is a lovely man. He has reverted to calling my mother a pet name that his youngest daughter called her when she was learning to talk, "Buh." He said, "Hey Buh!" Very sweet.
Lynn, I can hear almost your uncle saying, "You sure are pretty." I'm sorry he's slipped into another world. That happens, I know. I hope it is a mostly happy world there, at least.
At least you were rewarded for your packing in sorting efforts by this beautiful ride and shrimp! :)
How many teapots are in your mother's collection?
I'm glad that you were flattered by your uncle calling you pretty and sweet! :)
Are you sure you weren't in the cove here? Glad you finally got some water in your sundown!
I'd love to see the teapot collection! Unfortunately, I've managed to ruin every one except the current, n thrown them away-
At least Uncle still knows a pretty girl or 4 when he sees them! Can be tough to visit those with altered brain functioning.

For a few moments he seemed almost himself. His daughter says it had been an unusually good week.
It was a wonderful evening and definitely a beautiful ride.

She has about 40 teapots. Yes - his flattery has always kind of made my day. :)

It is a beautiful lake and seems to go on forever. I'll post a pic of the teapot I came home with.
beautiful photograph and I love the bit about the notes in the teapots - like a memory set aside...
What a gentle feeling in this post and the picture.

Thank you - my mother is the best note keeper I have ever seen or heard of.

Thank you - we will miss our family home, but the heart and soul of it were mom and dad. He passed away in December and she is living in another town now in a small apartment, so we are clearing the house out to be sold.
