Daddy don't sing!, gesture and wild honey

- I love the Avett Brothers and in this video, Scott Avett tries to sing "Just a Closer Walk (With Thee)" with charming results. So funny. :)

- They must be the nicest band in the world. There was a concert two weeks ago in Atlanta at a venue that was apparently over sold, disappointing a lot of fans who couldn't get in. So they have a letter on their website offering them free admission to an October concert in nearby Tennessee. Lovely.

- My friend Whitney posted the video above on facebook. She has a wonderful food blog now, Wild Honey, and I love her post about making a giant birthday cookie for her wee niece. You can check it out here.

Wow I just couldn't watch that video! His voice was so painful to my ears!

Love the name Whitney! Off to check out her blog. :)

So funny - I agree. I'm so glad you are checking them out!

Joe -

I guess his daughter feels the same way. :)

Ha! Maybe she's Wiccan?

I was raised in the church, and I still love the music. Sometimes I sing getting out of the bathtub, and Bosco will bark at me. (Maybe HE is Wiccan!) and "How Great Thou Art" turns into How Loud You Bark! I couldn't make this stuff up, Lynn. ;-)

"Daddy, close it." So cute. His voice is very moving to me. Always liked that hymn a lot. It was a favorite of my grandmother.

Cookies, did someone say cookie -- and a giant one at that??!! Sounds good.

Hope you're having a peaceful day filled with lots of smiles.

xoxo

Lynn,

This was GREAT!!! That's not easy for a daddy to take, especially one in a band. Still, I kind of agree with his daughter. Thanks for sharing this!.

Sara -

I thought he had a sort of long-suffering look. I'm thinking this has happened before. :)

Then my job is done! That's all I want out of this blog - to make people smile...

Kids are so funny. They have their own motivations and agendas that make so much sense to them but none at all to anyone else sometimes. I love how he responds to her, not getting upset, but not letting her control the situation either.
