Sparse traffic, windowsill and much traffic

- A quick, solitary trip to the mountains - just Friday evening and back to Atlanta on Sunday p.m. Traffic on the river was so sparse that I was startled to see this fly fisherman and might not have noticed him at all except for a faint scent of pipe smoke.

- My sister has added a hint of her life in northern Florida to the kitchen windowsill of her vacation home in the mountains - mallard ducks and watermelon. Her county in Florida is known for its prolific crop of watermelons. The small stones have always been there - something that her late mother-in-law must have put there. It was her house in the beginning.

- Summoning up patience at sitting through a long line of traffic trying to get through a busy resort town during the trip home. The tubing industry was doing a brisk business on this day.

I had a hard time spotting the fisherman but finally saw him. Guess I needed to smell the pipe smoke too. Sometimes when we are in our den at night I will suddenly catch the odor of cigarette smoke. Neither of us smoke and it really creeps me out.

Nice tribute to keep the stones there.

Looks like the tubing traffic we have around here. We avoid the lakes and rivers on Labor Day weekend.

Granny Annie -

I snapped another photo of the fisherman during my walk around the property, but it looked like I was standing in bushes taking a surveillance photo. :)

This is the reason I came back today - I figured the traffic would be way worse on Labor Day. It took almost an hour to get through Helen, Georgia.

I LOVE that top photo, and I did see the fisherman. I would give anything to be able to walk into that place right now.

Again, somehow your blog always makes me hungry, because I want to go get some watermelon now.

Kenju -

Thank you - I'm glad you liked it. I saw that you had storm damage - I imagine you would like to get away.

Riot Kitty -

Watermelon - I never seem to get enough of that.

Short, but lovely. It was mainly an excuse to go, but I had taken home the linens to wash and needed to get them back up. My sister and her friend are going to be there in a couple of weeks for their annual friend trip.

I think that tube company must be rich. :)

Me, too. It just kind of says who they are.

Gotta love little traffic company! Guess they don't use flies in the saltwater. Now we need saltwater fishing permits too! Has cut down on the folks fishing alot around here- Still trying to figure out where to get the permits...
Do folks ride those tubes down the river you visit?

Snaggle -

Yes - they do, but more often I see kayaks.
