- When mom and dad were clearing out my grandparents' home years later, I asked if I could have the dog and cat planters. I always thought the dog, in particular, looked kind of sad. They are safely back in the trunk this morning and await the day I move into a place large enough to have a curio cabinet in which to display them. :)
- One of my siblings, my sister Jo, is coming to visit this weekend! I should thank her for generating the cleaning and organizing spree I've been on for the past few days. That's the best good thing - her visit and having such a clean and tidy house.
I had to look up how to spell knickknacks. :) I hope you have a wonderful weekend, my friends!

Hi Lynn - love your dog and cat and do hope you can display them soon and use them occasionally ..
Enjoy the weekend with your sister - and isn't a good tidy up a great feeling ... I'm in that process .. cheers Hilary
Someone once mentioned that they didn't know whose house had more knickknacks, my mother's or mine. I do have a lot of them. My maternal grandmother used to make ceramic figures like these. I still have one of them, a horse. I had a giraffe, too, but it broke. :-(
How fun to have your sister come visit. Bet there'll be plenty of good food and lots of laughs.
And is that a Pampered Chef "whirlygig" utensil storage unit I see on your counter? I have one and I like it a lot.
Have a great weekend! xoxo
What cute knickknacks! My grandparents had a ton of things like that, that are now stored away in our attic for me to rediscover someday.
have a great time with your sister jo! enjoy the weekend with her.
love your dog and cat.
they are soo cute!
big hugs
xo
Hilary -
I had completely forgotten about them and was putting a couple of items down in the trunk and I was delighted when I saw them.
It's a great feeling.

I finally put the same grandparents' ceramic cow cream pitcher inside the dishes cabinet, rather that in the bakers rack where it was before. I just knew it would get broken, so it's fun to open that cabinet for a dish and see it.
Jannie -
There will be all that!
Yes - that's exactly what that is - I finally caved and got one. It freed up some drawer space, too.
xoxo
Joanne -
You will have rediscovering them someday, I'm sure.
Betty -
I will - you have a great weekend, too!
Nice planters and the dog does look sad but sweet. I try not to decorate with too many knickknacks (is that really how you spell it??) but they add character to a house. My great aunt had a bunch of them she'd find at yard sales and she decorated her home with these finds. There was always something interesting popping up on a table at her place.
How is it that I can remember knickknacks of my grandparents (and great grandparents) home... Have a great weekend.
Have a wonderful visit! This post totally brought back memories of my great-grandmother's house. She lived on her own into her late 80s. I thought her purple glass was made of amethyst.
Those planters are so neat! The dog looks like he's hearing his master/mistress's voice. :)
Hope you and Jo have a fabulous weekend! Enjoy every second!
Sweet! And the dog does look sad. Do you have a high place to set them on? Sometimes the top of a bookcase or a cabinet is a great place to display until you have more room or a better place.
Lynn, your description of sitting (visiting) in your grandparent's house made me think of the items my own eyes wondered upon while sitting, watching and listening! It was like a movie! Very good!
Best weekend to you as well :-) :-) Are you watching the Superbowl???
I actually have a ceramic dog planter, (tri-colored beagle-like) on a shelf in my living-room that my Lil' sis bought at a yard sale, n gave to me for a b-day present when we were kids. Nice you had a set-
I like knickknacks too, but most are packed away.
A cabinet is a good idea to cut down on dusting- I wash n wash n never keep up!
Have a good visit with your sis-
Funny how visits generate a clean-up motivation otherwise non-existent! This week I'm trying to sleep more n clean less...
Maybe the doggie is sad because he's jealous of the kitty's beautiful necktie. ;-)

Your aunt sounds fun!

I hope your weekend has been good - my sis and I had such a full weekend that I'm just now answering round two of comments.
Riot Kitty -
Purple glass sounds lovely. And what a lovely memory!
Talon -
That's exactly what he looks as if he is doing.

I'm glad I could generate that memory. And yes - I'm watching the Superbowl - the power is strangely out. I'm think it was all that Beyonce lighting that did it in. :)
Snaggle -
I have so much stuff from inheritance and much of it is packed away.
Sparkling Red -
Ha! That must be it. :)
Happy Birthday Lynn!
Snaggle -
Thank you! I forgot it was my birthday until I pulled up facebook a few minutes ago and saw all the birthday wishes. :)
I am a knick-knack freak. My grandparents were too and it affected me. Love the little planters.
Granny Annie -
My place is so small that I wish I had more room in which to beloved treasures like that.
What a great name your sister has! :D
Joe -
Yes, Jo is a great name - so is Joe!
