- Taking a seldom used back road, impulsively turning into the driveway of Our Lady of the Holy Spirit Monastery. Stepping out of the car - a feeling of peace washes over me.
- As one of the brothers drives out, he patiently waits for the geese to move. He smiles with a twinkle in his eye as he goes by.
- Even the water tower has the mark of the order. They have a working farm, but supplement their income by selling handmade rosaries, fudge and bonsai trees.

It was too early for the gift shop to be open, but I keep thinking I might get one of the rosary bracelets one day - they are so beautiful.
A friend goes to Mass there every morning and he says it is difficult to watch them age - there aren't many young ones anymore. So they have turned to crafts to make money to keep the place going. Another friend orders the fudge online all the time.
The first two pictures especially really show a peacefulness about them. In fact, I feel a little extra peace in my heart just looking at that first picture...

It is a peaceful place. Another car had "sitting on my bumper" for a few miles, so I mainly turned off to shake him and instead got a special gift of peace.
I used to stop there all the time and buy bread, but they don't make it anymore.

My favorite is the Southern Touch: chocolate fudge made with
real peaches, peach brandy and pecans. YUM.

And don't you just feel super annoyed at those drivers on your bumper? I usually pull off too and let them pass but so far have pulled into no monasteries, not that I know of anyway. I have landed at a beer hall or two. :)

When you get to the website - look for the button that says "Commerce." They have the fudge on special now. :)

I know. I liked it a bit more when the gift shop was a tiny part of the welcome center. I had a lovely conversation with one of the monks once while in there - they are allowed to speak when there. I would find if difficult to be silent.
