- Riding in the car with my very girly niece in the Florida panhandle a few days ago and chuckling at the items in her console tray, which make it very "her." Jewelry, change and shotgun shells. The shotgun was in a zipped up bag in the back seat - I guess in case an alligator tries to get her.* :)
- Loving the plethora of blueberries around right now. A man at Whole Foods gave me a tip a couple of years ago that I still use for buying up extras when they are at a low price: stick them in the freezer in the plastic container they come in without rinsing them. Wash them after they are thawed out in the refrigerator and you want to eat them.
- The soul-sucking, window-fogging humidity this morning has at least one good effect - my sleep flattened hair curled right back up when I watered outside plants at 5am.
* She, her boyfriend and her dad like to shoot skeet in the late afternoon on the farm. That is the official reason.

Hey, we managed to learn one new thing about you:
You have a curl to your hair. :D
Speaking of blueberries, my mom and dad used to go strawberry picking and bring home an ungodly amount of strawberries that my mom would deep freeze and eat year 'round.
Does she subscribe to Garden & Gun?
I dunno~~ ya never (--really--) know about...those alligators...

Yeah - it's extremely curly. I gave in to the curl several years ago and it sure makes life easier. The nieces who inherited the curl flat iron their hair though. My nephew has the curl, but he mostly buzzes his hair so he doesn't have to deal with it. :)
My family did the same thing with peaches, since we are in the land of peach growing.

I don't know if she subscribes, but she does read that magazine - we talked about the issue with Martina McBride on the cover. She is the office manager for a large plantation and they have expensive hunting dogs - one of them appeared in that magazine as a model!

I know - alligators are probably all about minding their own business unless you get in their way, but I have a healthy respect for them and wouldn't swim in that lake!
I wish something would instantly pop my flattened hair up. Lucky you getting The Curl.
Kelly made me a parfait in one of my crystal flutes this morning with vanilla yogurt, blueberries, banana and strawberry. Never heard that about the blueberry saving -- great tip, thanks!!
xoxo
Watering plants at 5.00am is enough to make anyone's hair curl!
I'll let you into a secret, I have very curly hair too.
Shotgun shells and and alligators. The blueberry freezing thing works. They are one of my favorite fruits. I HATE humidity. HATE.
Your girly niece has brought "cool" to a whole 'nother level. :)
Thanks for the tip on blueberries. My husband bought a bunch for my son (who LOVES them) yesterday and I figured we'd only get through half of the containter and have to throw the rest out (as usual). I will definitely try freezing them...and make shakes with them!
thanks for the bluberry tip!
the birds raided our BB bush when I was a kid. We had to fight them for some berry bounty!!! LOL
fun visiting you today :)
Aloha from Waikiki;
PS: My new blog posts are still not updating in blogger/reader OR links on others' blogs

Lucky you getting that voice - I'm just sayin'. And that wee girl that makes parfaits. :)
xo

I'm thinking you keep it closely cropped and the curl doesn't show?

I love blueberries so much. I switch back and forth for Monday thru Friday breakfast - oatmeal with blueberries or granola, vanilla flavored yogurt with blueberries. Yummmm.

She is so great - I can't even begin to describe her. Actually all my nieces are great.
I'm so glad to share that tip - works for me.

Where did you grow up, I wonder? They do grow blueberries in the area I live in - mostly in the mountains, but the ones I buy seem to be mostly from Michigan.
What are skeet?
Love blueberries!
Riot Kitty -
I love blueberries, too.
Skeet is a recreational and competitive activity where participants attempt to break clay disks launched into the air at high speed from a variety of angles.
Yes the back and sides are shaved, but the top is longer, and I have to straighten it. :D Otherwise I'd just have curly locks all over, just like a young Justin Timberlake. :D
And it's a good enough 'official reason'. Am actually intrigued by the colour of the shells. Does one get to choose their colour as well?
Joe -
I used to chemically straighten my hair, but then I had so many comments about how lucky I was to have curly hair that I went au natural about 20 years ago.

I have no idea about the colors of shotgun shells, but I'll ask her.
Wow, a real shotgun? Good luck to that person who tries to mess with her... I want blueberries every day for the lutien for my eye health... My hair is too curly in the humidity.
Snaggle -
My hair just gets bigger and bigger in the summer. :)
Yes - her dad and I were visiting her in that plantation office one day and when we were driving out, a couple of men he didn't know in a truck were driving up to the office. I asked if we should hang out since he didn't recognize them. (To protect my niece.) He laughed and shook his head. I'm thinking no one is going to mess with her - as you say.
I want jewelry, change and shotgun shells in my console tray. Passengers would marvel.
Good tip on the blueberries. Have you tried it yet?
Did your hair "curl" or frizz?
