Good Things Happened - January - December 2011

Sometimes there was beauty in unexpected places.

Or in a familiar town where loved ones live and spring comes early.

Or traveling through Georgia on the way to see mom.

In a park where I learned that walking for fitness can be fun.

And standing in the rain in Times Square.

The whisper of the river.  Always beautiful.

A summer so hot that these guys got water every morning and rewarded me with their beauty.

The fruits of a master gardener's garden.

And watching the Braves play on a blue sky day.

Shimmering beauty in the fall.

And at the site of a famous battlefield, now peaceful and quiet.

This barrel outside a recovery shelter for men reminded me of an important lesson I often forget for myself: "Live your Life" - enjoy it, be happy and love whatever it is you choose to do.
I wish just that for everyone.
Happy New Year, my friends.

Lynn~ I had not seen the shot of the umbrellas in Times Square; very nice! I enjoyed traveling back through 'your' year! I will go back and take a gander later today, again.

Granny Annie -

Happy New Year to you, too! There wasn't much going on at work this week, so I had time to put this together there. Sometimes I had multiple photos in a month I liked and sometimes (like July) there weren't many to choose from. See you next year!

happygirl -

Thank you and will always be on the lookout for beautiful things. :)

Happiest of New Years to you, too, lg. The black umbrella closest to me belonged to my height challenged sister (she is 5 feet tall.) I have six inches on her so suddenly realized the umbrella shot would be a good one. I had to get her to hold mine while I took the picture. We were standing in line for same day theater tickets next to those red steps. :)

Loving what you choose to is a wonderful plan, Lynn!

Really beautiful post.

The fruits of a master's garden includes YOU and I'm grateful for another year of your beauty, grace and kindness.

Jannie -

I was pondering that loving what you do question yesterday and that is really what it's all about, I think.

Thank you, my friend, and you pinged on my favorite photo - the flower from my sister's North Carolina neighbor's garden. She is a master gardener. I call that photo "Two Ants" and have it as my screensaver at work. Enlarge and see if you can spot the two ants. :)

Happy New Year, Jannie Muffin!

A very wonderful recap of the year.

You've always had an eye for beauty and it's always a pleasure to see the less hurried side of life in the south.

Thank you for saying that - it is a gift to have you visit! This was fun to do. :)

Happy new year, my friend!

Sparkling Red -

Thank you. I don't have a key to the front door, so I walk around the back to go in during the early morning hour before we open. This is the back of the printing plant and is the reason I always have my camera with me.

Happy New Year, to you, too!

Thank you - it's my goal in life to not hurry. :)

Thank you and Happy New Year!

They all look lovely except for the Braves playing (unless they lost). Yep, I'm still sore at the Braves beating the Pirates in the NL finals in 1991 and 92. Have a very happy New Year, Lynn!

Lynn,

I had to read and view this post! What a lovely trip back through your 2011. Every picture and caption was perfect.

I hope your 2012 will be just as beautiful as 2011 was.

The barrel was a favorite and the message important for anyone who reads it.

Happy New Year back at you...a few days late:~)

Thank you and I visited the place behind the barrel just yesterday. It's kind of a touchstone for me.

Happy New Year!
