- There aren't as many of them around as there used to be, but the dogwood trees are blooming here and there. I love spotting them peeking out between the other trees. And they have their own festival this weekend in Atlanta.
- Playing hooky from the church grounds clean-up day and feeling only a little guilty about it. My excuse being that the pollen intake would finally send me over the edge.
- Smiling up at neighbors congregating on Marion's balcony and basking in their cheery hellos.

Sweet! (Like you!)
I remember Kelly asking this when I proposed we play hooky one day from Kindergarden, "That sounds fun Mom! How do we play it?"
xoxo
Jannie -
That is an interesting thought - where did that phrase come from? "Playing" hooky? Out of the mouths of babes...
xoxoxo
The dogwoods blossoms are so pretty and deserving of a festival!
Maybe hooky was some old-fashioned game that kids love and skipped school to play?
Ah, time for the Dogwood Festival. Are you planning to attend? That's a gorgeous photo, by the way!
I completely understand about playing hooky for reasons of pollen overload. Yesterday I actually only did about half of what I intended in the garden before it got to me. I'm glad you erected a healthy boundary and stayed indoors. :)
I don't blame you for skipping the clean-up. This pollen is a killer!

I looked up the origin of the phrase "playing hooky" and just did not come up with anything conclusive.
That is a great festival, too - it is held in our park that is similar to Central Park in New York (only much smaller.)
Meredith -
I probably won't get to go to the festival - out of town commitments at the weekend.
Darn pollen - it'll be worth it when it is gone though. :)
Mama Zen -
It is a killer - seems worse that last year.
Pollen is a VERY legit excuse, my friend!

My gardening neighbor is downstairs stirring some up as we speak. A yellow cloud went up as I approached and made me sneeze 50 times. :) OK - 49.
Wow 49 sneezes! That's a lot of "bless you's" too!
Joe -
I need all the "bless you's" I can get! :)
I also feel conflicted in liking all the blossoms, yet being allergic to some of them! Avoiding further pain n discomfort is always my best hooky excuse!
Sometimes a cheery group hello is invigorating- unless it's my drunken neighbors!
Snaggle -
I am hoping those neighbors of yours move at some point - they are no fun. I am blessed with good ones - and the best thing is that they are quiet.
