Funnel of Love, not so much and grasshopper
- This was the "B" side to a record recorded by a woman named Wanda Jackson in 1961. She's known as the "Queen of Rockabilly" - I adore this twangy song and even more that, that she is opening for the singer Adele in concert right now. Someone in Houston, Texas blogged about her here.
- A client has her baby in the car and asks me to bring something she was picking up out to her. I ask if I can see baby Emery and she warns, "She's being fussy, but OK." She rolls the window down and Emery flashes me a huge smile.
- A grasshopper, a lovely shade of green, crawls to the top of the stone rabbit's head in my "garden" and surveys and then is gone in a flash.

This Wanda Jackson recording made me think of my aunt who loved classical music. She taught music and directed the church choir. Anytime county music would be played anywhere near her, she would throw up her arms and run screaming out of the room. Makes me wish I could play this for her. LOL
Sounds like Emery liked you or she wanted the window open.
Grasshoppers never say long.
Granny Annie -
A fun memory! Wanda Jackson also sings old time gospel.
I'm silly with babies, so that's probably why she was smiling, or maybe she just wanted the window open.
I had an impulse to run for the camera, but knew it would be gone when I got back. But just savoring the moment of being with the grasshopper for a moment was enough.
A Lady that song
From a long time ago
Now sings at a concert
Ho, who would know
A big smile
From a little girl
Made my day
In this rushed world
In a hip hop
Up on top
Of a rabbit’s head you see
The grasshopper looked
From the top of his nook
All in front of me
If I were a baby I'd smile at you too.

P.S. Guess who I finally got to see a photo of today, on Linked-In?? After almost 3 years of me doing this blogging thang? She's got curly hair and is REALLY pretty -- finally a whole face to put with that lovely right eye.
Why'd I wait so long to check out Linked-In again? :)
xoxo

Love it! A great wrap up poem. Thank you for it.

Ya think? :)
And yes - I do have an actual picture on LinkedIn, where we are connected now! I just sent the confirmation.
Thanks for the compliment, Jannie Muffin. You are sweet to say.

Lord above. Wanda Jackson must be about 100 years old by now! I never heard of her until I got into late 50s early 60s rockabilly about fifteen years ago. She had a lot of hit records.
You're the ulitmate cure for a fussy baby!
Love grasshoppers (we have mantis here) and smiling babies. Never heard the song before. Thanks.
Wanda is an Oklahoma girl!

I had never heard of her, but yes, she looks a little old. I think it's cool that she is opening for Adele!

You cheer babies (and us) right up, chica! :)
I had a grasshopper cling to my side car mirror all 11 miles to work once. Then at the end of the day it was still there! I shooed him before the drive home, as I don't know how he made it so long.
I adore Adele. :-) Mama Zen was the one who turned me on to her, some time back.

HOW have I missed Wanda Jackson before? I am a fan now.
Mahalo for coming by!

Thank you for saying that - you cheer me up, too!
Riot Kitty -
That is amazing - like some sort of sign.

My iPod is loaded up with Adele now and this Wanda Jackson song. :)
Somehow it seems perfectly fitting that Adele would have a unique female singer opening for her :)
Emery recognizes a sweet soul when she sees one :)
Video has to wait 2 more weeks- BBM is out on vaca. I afore saying hi to babies- they always like me! I see you are charming to the young also-
Lucky you the Hopper flew- something has been eating my radish leaves this week!
The first time I heard of her or heard her, and what a lovely twangy song. The tune is still ringing away.
I suppose Baby Emery knows whom to be fussy with and whom to beam a smile. Am just saying :-)
You're sure the stone rabbit didn't shake its head disapproving being made a look-out?
Talon -
That must be the most awesome concert ever!
And thank you for saying that - I think I'm just silly with babies is all. :)
Snaggle -
I can imagine that babies would like you. And you've got those beloved grandkids, I remember.
