Gift, Fond du Lac and pandamonium

- My mother wins her Bingo game and chooses this calculator as her prize. She sends it to me because she remembers that I was looking for one in their house several days ago. And it is a dandy one - a color that will make it easily found in my purse.

- A lovely lady with snow white hair and multiple strings of pearls says she hails from Fond du Lac, Wisconsin. And telling her I like the way the name Fond du Lac rolls off the tongue.

- Another I-wish-I-could-win-the-lottery moment. A news report of Zoo Atlanta's Giant Pandas who must be returned to China unless the zoo can raise mega bucks to keep them.

I like how the package states the incredibly obvious: contains one piece.

I hope you're thinking about your Friday 55....:-)

I don't mean to sound rude but your mother couldn't have won much in her bingo game! Still it was very kind of her to send her gift to you. Maybe it was her polite way of saying you can't add up? ;)

Ok so I've just looked at your profile and realized you are an account manager...so hit me now!

That is funny, isn't it?

I'm thinking...

I had trouble with the adding machine at their house and just wanted a regular calculator, so she generously gave me her winning prize. Very cute, I think.

And no worries - I do have trouble adding up. Account Manager in my case means handling printing and graphics projects for client accounts. Somehow I ended up with no math gene or mechanical gene. :)

I want that calculator! I have a thing for weird ones. One is hot pink, one has Chococat on it.

Lynn,
I've been through Fond du Lac more times than I can recall! Very cool!

And that is one brightly colored calculator!

That is sweet of your mom to give the calculator to you. Sometimes it's the small gifts that mean the most. She remembered that you were looking for a calculator. she paid attention to you. that's sweet.

Oh, I'm very sad to read about the zoo's troubles. I love those pandas, especially the itty-bitty baby ones.

I just moved from ATL in January, and I feel so weird when I hear about a local (to y'all) news story I haven't heard via the grapevine. I'm still adjusting to not living in Midtown ;)

Just found your blog through a random click :) I like it!

I love moms, too. Especially my mom, but also all you moms out there.

Riot Kitty -

You made me google Chococat! And I see that he is one of the Hello Kitty legion. A Chococat calculator would be absolutely cool. :)

My parents' neighbor is delightful and misses Wisconsin very much. Probably because of the nice people there.

Cookie -

I was so touched by that because she has been very ill and understandably not prone to thoughfulness lately.

Welcome Meredith!

I hope you will come back! Your blog is beautiful - it has such lovely flora.

Yes - our baby pandas are so adorable. I miss the pandacam - used to watch it while on hold for people on calls.

Franklin Park Zoo near Boston had the same funding cuts, so they're working on getting more private donations to stay in operation, or will have to give away animals-
Hope the Pandas get to stay!
Nifty calculator, nice of Mom- I got the same one from the 90's still ticking here...

I hope they get to stay, too. I enjoyed going to the zoo one day with my cousin and her wee daughter Claire. I told Claire that I liked the pandas best, but she liked the snake house the best. Oh my!

Giant pandas are so fragile too. And sweet.

How big is that calculator? Like 10 inches by about 14 ?? :0

Wow, Lance knows Fond Du Lac? From my French training I'd say it translates to "The Bottom Of The lake," so don' go there unless wearing scuba gear, okay??

Jannie -

It just appears bigger than it is - 3.5 x 2.5.

No scuba diving for me!!! I love to look at the water, but not do things like that. My adventurous older sis likes to kayak - no way I'll do that ever.
