- A woman who serves meals at the assisted living home where mom lives, remarking last weekend that I am "just like" my late dad, in that he always wanted plain, unsweetened iced tea with meals, too. I like that comparison!
- For those of you not from the South - at restaurants (or anywhere) down here, if you order tea, and unless you specify hot tea, it comes with ice and is typically loaded with sugar, and known as Sweet Tea. A waitperson will ask you upon ordering tea, "Sweet or unsweet?" I am an unsweet kind of gal - preferring it just as it comes.

I can somehow see you preferring the simple, plain version of iced tea. And of course I'm happy for you, being compared to your dad. :) (And good thing you thought to explain it to others. I guess it's not standard everywhere.)
Would you believe, though raised in the South, that I can't stand iced tea, in any form? I know, I am some kind of freak.
I love iced tea. You order tea here, and it's, "Earl Grey? Jasmine?"

I really hate sweet tea - ick! My ex-mother-in-law made the sweetest, sugar-laden sweet tea I ever had. Her husband got diabetes from it! My ex-husband used to ask for half and half - half sweet, half unsweet. :)

Oh - I think I would love it up there. But I love iced tea, too.
I'll pass on any tea thanks. Ironic as Brits are known for loving a "nice cup of tea". :D

Yep, who needs sugar when you're already made of it.
I take my hot tea with a bit of cream.
It's funny how things differ. Here if you order tea you get it hot in a pot and add what you like. If you want a cold drink of tea you order "iced tea" which is always presweetened - but not to cavity inducing proportions - lol!

I too like unsweetened ice tea. On a recent trip to North Carolina, there were two pitchers of tea at every meal. The sweetened tea was always gone! I had plenty to drink!! And I like the comparison with your father too.

I like redbush tea served hot. It is what I drink at work. I have an electric teakettle at my desk and brew some up every morning.

The lady went on to say how much they all miss my father - he always had a kind word and smile for everyone and would say something to make each ones' day better. A gift.

I was here much earlier, but got bumped off-line n didn't get to comment. My computer is currently having many issues-
I've actually never done flower paintings- but do like sunflowers if I had too...
Not adding sugar is a good habit- I tend too put 1/2 spoon in, always hot tea.
