Happy 2010!

Happy New Year, friends! Here are some favorite quotes about making resolutions, something I stopped doing because I NEVER keep them, despite good intentions. Well - I do resolve to eat more chocolate in 2010 and the holiday candy was on sale today. I started with this chocolate "orange" that had the fun instruction of "whack and upwrap" and it fell apart in "slices." How cool is that?!?

- I do think New Year's resolutions can't technically be expected to begin on New Year's Day, don't you? Since, because it's an extension of New Year's Eve, smokers are already on a smoking roll and cannot be expected to stop abruptly on the stroke of midnight with so much nicotine in the system. Also dieting on New Year's Day isn't a good idea as you can't eat rationally but really need to be free to consume whatever is necessary, moment by moment, in order to ease your hangover. I think it would be much more sensible if resolutions began generally on January the second. ~Helen Fielding, Bridget Jones's Diary

- Good resolutions are simply checks that men draw on a bank where they have no account. ~Oscar Wilde

- Drop the last year into the silent limbo of the past. Let it go, for it was imperfect, and thank God that it can go. ~Brooks Atkinson

I hope you have a great holiday today, and a weekend filled with all good things!

Cute post! I love the chocolate orange idea. Around 10:30 pm I ran out for a chocolate doughnut binge.
Happy New Year!

Don't explode - we need you in blogland. No more chocolate for you - more for me. :) Happy New Year!

Oh, that "whack and unwrap" is awesome. How fun!

I, too, have avoided resolutions for years. I decided to set a word of the year, i.e. an overarching intention for 2010, and see where that takes me. I got the idea from, where else, a blog!

Happy New Year, Lynn!

It broke my heart a little yesterday when they were interviewing kids on the news and asking for their resolutions and a little girl said she needed to lose five pounds. I hate that kind of pressure on little ones.

So no resolutions here except goofy ones. I do like the sound of your intention though.

Happy New Year!

Terry's chocolate orange has been a staple for Christmas stockings here for decades. Especially the dark chocolate - my fav!

And I guess if I HAD to make a resolution it would be something along the lines of having more belly laughs. I love a good belly laugh!

Happy New Year, Lynn!

Jannie -

And you are beautiful! A very healthy sounding weight.

Happy New Year!

More belly laughs - that would be a good one.

This Terry's is toffee crunch - something I have a weakness for. I have been sneaking a few slices here and there.

Happy New Year!

Next year I am putting the chocolate orange in the toe of everyone's stocking. How did I not have one of those before? Happy New Year. :)

Three excellent quotes for the occassion! Of course I had to work on the holiday again, it's the next day.
An old blog buddy sent me a ton of chocolate n cookies this year- been picking all day long! Haven't had a choc-orange yet.
I did quit smoking on New Years 7 years ago, n n won't ever start again, but it was my plan because I'd started on that date.

Have a great 20-10!

What a nice old blog buddy to do that for you. It is nice that you had those good things to eat, but I am sorry you had to work on the holiday.

I'm glad you quit smoking, too, so many years ago - a good reason to stop on that day.

Happy New Year, Snaggle!

Chocolate orange....reminds me when I had to organize a show and tell for some town clerks at my first job with only a ten minute notice.

They were so grateful for the short demonstration, that they left a chocolate orange for everyone in the department to partake and share.

Hope you had a goody!

Happy New Year - and I hope you liked the chocolate orange as much as I did. :)
