- Right on schedule, the potted Hosta makes an appearance.
- Loading up a box of stray unneeded glassware to take to Goodwill. And saving out a lone wineglass, all its mates broken over the years, deciding it is needed because it is so pretty.
- Sitting with some seminary students at lunch and enjoying their talk of hopes and dreams. When they ask what I "do" - I say all my volunteer positions first, realizing that they mean the most to me.

Interesting sentiment there. Says a lot about a person when they find true fulfillment doing volunteer work as opposed to the doing the mundane job that gets them that funny piece of paper with numbers on it that keeps us functioning on a weekly bsis.
Good for you.
Hope your Easter was a good one.

I do love my volunteer work. And I don't minimize the importance of my paying job in my life - that piece of paper with the numbers on it does keep me going. :)
That's nice, Lynn!! Often our volunteer work gives the most fulfilment, kinda like we were born to serve and be kind to others, like how your blog spreads joy and goodwill.

Cute little angel!
yay! for hostas and their green sprouts of promise!
Volunteer work is not only satisfying, but I think we enjoy it even more because we choose to do it -- sometimes we don't get a lot of choice in our paid jobs.
Someone said it right: Only those who have learned the power of selfless service experience life's deepest joy.
The cute little cherub reminds me of Jackson Browne's song "Too Many Angels".
Welcome back, Hosta! Your cherub in the foreground is a fascinating choice. Not like a run-of-the-mill cherub in a garden, is he?
I could tell from reading your blog just how much the volunteer work matters to you, and I thank you for it. Our society needs more people like you, dear Lynn. :)
nice thinking!

Thanks Jannie - I do like to spread joy and goodwill. You are like that yourself!

Hostas are my kind of plant - they don't need too much coddling. I wish I had the gardening gene, but unfortunately do not. :)
Absolutely - a good thought about volunteerism.

What a great quote - I looked it up and it is by Tony Robbins. I used to listen to his motivational tapes.
Jackson Browne - I don't know that song "Too many angels." Looking that up now, too. :)

That is so nice of you to say - I love my volunteer work.
I got that cherub from The Gypsy Camp sale in Decatur, Georgia. They used to just open every now and then and sell stuff they found on their travels. He makes a nice addition to my angel collection. He is sitting on bricks that came from my late grandparents' back yard, spotted on my last walk through the house and yard before it was sold the next week.

Thank you - happy Belated Easter, to you!
You've just reminded me that I need to work on my hosta!
Volunteering *is* what you do - you do good stuff, Lynn.
I admire anyone that gives up their time to volunteer.
Welcome back!
My poor old Hosta out in the yard has not had last falls debris raked off yet. things are beginning to grow out there finally, but I haven't had any days off to do anything- n I'm avoiding the neighbors- who only let me sleep 3 hours today.
I have several special glass orphans myself-
It's great of you to do so much volunteering, n to be blessed with the time to devote!

I need to divide that hosta and fill up another pot, but just haven't done it yet.

Sometimes at parties, it is too easy to just ask people what they "do" - I had a woman apologize to me once for only being a stay-at-home mom. What??? A perfectly wonderful thing to "do." So I avoid that question now and usually go with "how do you know ___?" Or "what brought you to Atlanta?" So that is why I list my volunteer work first when asked what I do - it define me, I think.

Thank you - just away for Saturday and Sunday as usual. I hope you had a wonderful Easter.

Those are just not the best neighbors, huh? I am blessed with time and thankful for that.
