Laughing all the way, same spot and piping

- My sisters and I would have been looking at this view in North Carolina this past weekend, but considered that we had a sisters weekend anyway by taking care of our mother's move. And we laughed just as much as we always do. One example: My sister Jo (who lives near Thomasville in farm country) and I are having lunch on Thursday and I remark that she is lucky she can eat sour cream. Her immediate comeback, "You're lucky you have DSL."

- My dad always sat in the same spot in Jo's great room and it is lovely how mom likes to occupy that same spot when she is visiting the farm.

- Finding it difficult to get back to work yesterday after four days away, but the morning was considerably perked up by co-worker Joanne's rendition of "Happy Birthday" on the bagpipes in honor of another co-worker's 40th birthday.

Bagpipes! My goodness. Not oo many lady bagpipe players floating around, I wouldn't think. I like bagpipe music, though it seems to be one of those love it or hate it kind of things.

There is nothing better than the laughter of siblings at any age.

Sounds like your sister Jo has a great sense of humor! I'm glad you got to spend time together and enjoy that view, too! It's beautiful.

Happy Birthday on the bagpipes...now that's something I've never heard!

Happy Tuesday, Chica! xo

River, laughter and bagpipes. The trifecta! All you need now is some more holidays to top it off! :P

Sisters - you gotta love them, don't you? ;)

The bagpipe version of Happy Birthday sounds so neat. I love the pipes!

Shay -

I love the pipes. It was disconcerting to see her there gearing up the play.

Granny Annie -

I totally agree. I'm glad we are close.

Ily -

She does. And Happy Tuesday to you, my friend!

I am looking forward to a holiday on the Labor Day weekend. I like that trifecta. :)

The most laughter came when when were all so dog tired at Walmart and one sister said she was going to start loading the car while I waited for the other sister to come out of the restroom. And then we couldn't find the car in the parking lot - I decided she had sucked into a Walmart vortex when I suddenly spotted her. She had pulled up front to pick us up. So we trudged up to the car laughing at ourselves. :)

Bagpipes! Your workplace does sound fun, Lynn. :)

It's not the place the people gather, but that they're together. You and your sisters sound like a lively bunch.

That was so sweet, to picture your mom sitting there, where your father used to sit. Brought tears to my eyes...

Whoa! Happy Birthday on the bagpipes! I can here it now -- and not a shisper-soft sound. I LOVE the bagpipes, tho. Pretty-much always cry when I hear them. (Such a sap.) :)So true @FireBlossom. I LOVE bagpipes, hubby hates them. :)

Your whole family must be gifted with finding humor in things -- even forgetting where you'd parked, musta been HOT looking for it, and you all already tired. Best medicine, always, eh?

Hope you are getting rested up now? Labor Day weekend will soon be here!

xxoo

Low blood sugar here I guess. Lunch time.

The pipes did come
For the fortieth run
And two sisters laughed away
Where dad sat mom’s content
Out there on the farm
On her visiting days
With DSL no milk is spill
And sour cream is held at bay

Sounds like you had a fun weekend--we had a little party today for one of staff's 40th... I was able to finish cleaning out my closet of gift's I'd gotten on my 50th, a couple of years ago.

sounds like you have a great relationship with your sister. I also do with mine and it's awesome. We could be anywhere. As long as we have a table to sit at, we're cool.

Fun way to start the week!

It's good you get to see your sisters so often, even not relaxing- Mine both live in FL n I haven't seen them since a wedding last year.
Must comfort your Mom to feel the place she remembers he was.
Bagpipes are nifty! I don't have any tho- Always tough to get back to work from time off for me too.

He always liked that particular chair in the great room and now she sits there - she feels a little closer to him that way, I think.

Jannie -

Bagpipes - Fireblossom is right - people seem to love them or hate them.

You managed to hit all the things - good job! Thank you for my poem. :)

Riot Kitty -

We are like that, too. I don't know when I've laughed so much.

Sage -

You must have gotten all sorts of gifts related to turning 50. How funny - but you must have a lot of friends who care about you.

Lance -

Yes - she didn't miss a beat. :)

Wendy -

Sisters are just the best. I loved the weekend.

Snaggle -

I hope you get to see them soon.
