Parcel, transition and orange goodness

- So much fun when a forgotten ordered book comes in a parcel. This one must be good since the line at the library is so long for it. My book group is reading it for our March selection.

- Watching the transition from winter clothes to spring. Suddenly I am seeing lighter blouses and jackets. Yesterday spotting a light blue green blouse on someone who looks so much more comfortable now.

- Two posts here and here about carrots last evening, read back-to-back, inspired me to steam up some carrots to go in my warm vegetable salad. A blast of orange goodness. Yum - and I wouldn't have thought of it otherwise.

Have a wonderful weekend everyone!

I bet you are going to be busy reading that book over the weekend. I'm not a great fan of any gender specific product really, but I hope the book is fun and interesting.

How a wonderful weekend, Lynn.

Let me know what you think of the novel, Lynn, because I've been hearing great things about it and I could add it to the pile growing on my desk. I'm hoping for a good reading summer this year - I love tucking up with a good book outdoors on a summer afternoon.

Been wearing spring jackets and loving it! I hope Mother Nature realizes how much we appreciate the early arrival of spring!

Have a fantastic weekend, Lynn!

Joe -

I have to have it read by March 28th - I am 20th in line for it at the library and I put myself in the queue in January. Fortunately there are used book sellers on Amazon.

You have a great weekend, too!

Talon -

I will - I am taking it with me this weekend while I visit mom and will get started. I love tucking up with a good book, too.

Isn't it great to get out of sweaters and wool?

You have a great weekend, too!

LOL about carrots - I have always hated them, but it's a running joke in my family, and I buy little gifts with carrot designs on them for my dad all the time. I just sent him a box of chocolate hazelnut stuff shaped like carrots :)

Riot Kitty -

I don't like cocktail carrots, but I do love organically grown full sized carrots. I get them at the Rainbow Grocery near my house.

That's fun that you do that with your dad. I'll bet he likes that.

Somehow I knew the carrot post would generate some excitement over at Funster Manor!

I actually like winter clothes, too - I was just thinking that all of a sudden I am seeing springy things springing out.

My mama used to say this little poem, maybe you've heard it? "Spring has sprung, the grass has ris', I wonder where the flowers is?"

I'm always seeing some sort of food or recipe on a blog and having to try it. If I keep going, I'm going to be HUGE!

Interestingly enough, sometime last year (early summer I think) I got a poetry chapbook in the mail, and had no clue as to why I got it.

Took me about fifteen minutes to figure out it was from a contest that I entered a short story in, from the previous year.

I like your mama's little spring poem. :) Here, no flowers yet, not even much green grass -- but warm enough to alter our daily dress a little bit so far. And that little bit does make a difference, feels lighter and gentler somehow...

Definitely let us know about the book. I take book recommendations from friends seriously. :)

Have a good weekend, Lynn!

Guess what...the Upper House of the Indian Parliament recently passed a legislation to reserve 33.3% seats in Parliament and state legislatures for women. The bill had been deferred several times since 1996.

Maybe I'll recommend the book to some of our lawmakers.

You must give us a report when you are done with the book! Those carrots sound a good idea....

G -

I love getting a package in the mail - yours sounds fun. Was your work in it?

Meredith -

Mom has so many little poems like that. :) The trees in Macon are about to burst - the Cherry Blossom Festival begins next weekend.

The book - I like it so far. I took it with me to visit mom overnight and didn't get a lot of quality reading in. But tomorrow afternoon I am all over it. I will definitely let you know.

Lady M -

I will do that!

Shyamanga -

That is great news for India. I'll be interested in reading about the elections, etc. - you'll report on your blog I hope.

The book is fiction - from Publishers Weekly: "...a beautiful and kaleidoscopic view of the 20th century through the eyes of several generations of women in the Townsend family." I can't wait to get into it.
