Poppies by Bonnie Evans
- This image of poppies on the island of Corfu that Bonnie included with the last round of travel photos. They are often planted in the median of our Georgia interstate highway system so there is not as much need for mowing. A great use for wildflowers, I think.
- Food of the day: Popping into the newish Hankook Taqueria near my office. A concept new to me - Korean food made into tacos or burritos. Two smiling young ladies behind the counter coach me through what to order by telling me their favorites. That's what I get, three tacos - beef, pork and shrimp. The beef was savory, the pork fiery and the shrimp - just plain delicious.
- The lingering scent of lime left on my fingers from squeezing a wedge of lime over my shrimp taco.
I hope there is delight in your weekend. Have a great one!

Leave it to the highway department to plant the wrong kind of poppies.
Korean tacos You're right that is a bit different.
I had a lime aftershave one time. It was nice but I seem to always be hungry. Have a great weekend yourself.

What would be the right kind of poppies?
Those tacos were the most delicious things I've had all week. Yum.
lol on the aftershave. :)
Lynn, the poppies are beautiful. They always remind me of anemones because they have the same slender stalks and delicate cupped blooms.
Our city did a new area of multiple lane roads and had all sorts of plants put on the boulevard and it just makes being stuck in traffic that little bit nicer :)
Have a delight-filled weekend, Lynn!
"The lingering scent of lime left on my fingers from squeezing a wedge of lime over..." Great writing here Lynn; I can feel, taste and see the lime and its juice; the fragrance it leaves.
Have a good day friend!
lg!
Ah, the lingering scent of citrus, so bright and fresh. Your hand must smell a bit like spring.
I just read aloud your description of the Taqueria to F., because he's convinced Korean food was one of the greatest things I introduced him to when I lived in Midtown. We're headed south of the city this weekend, and as soon as I read your post, he asked if we could stop at Hankook and try it on the way down. ;) We'll see if we have time. Our schedule is packed (more family commitments in June than I can count)!
Hope you have a fun and relaxing weekend, my friend. Sending you a big hug. :)
Lynn poppies are what they grow down south. People get killed over a field of them.I could see the highway department grabbing a big of the wrong poppie seeds and planting them along the road side.

I just love seeing the fields of wildflowers along the medians, too. Yes - it makes being in traffic so much better.

It makes me want to have limes on hand all the time! :) I hope your day is going delightfully, too.
Meredith -
If you go to Hankook Taqueria - it is at 1341 Collier Road Northwest Atlanta, GA 30318. Blink and you'll miss it. It's kind of tucked in the corner and the Hill Street Warehouse is a landmark.

Mercy - I hadn't thought of that.
Lovely photo! Have a great weekend.

Thank you and you, too!
That was the one thing that I liked when I traveled through other states, the fantastic floral and fauna growth in that part of the highway.
Wish my state did that, but their speed is putting up sound barriers to block out the real world.
Like driving through one long tunnel.
You make me want to go out in the backyard and pick a lime from my tree...they're the best!
I had the tastiest shrimp last night...over creamy crab cakes. The meal was FANTASTIC!!
Enjoy your Saturday, my friend!
Oh yes, much delight in my weekend so far...

GORGEOUS poppies, next year I must be sure to capture a large bed of them in photo. They are on the way to Kelly's gymnastics place.
umn, umn, those tacos sound awesome, awesome, awesome.
I guess the flowers in the medians in parts of China are stunning, so a friend said. Maybe I'll see them some day. After I've seen Barcelona, Vienna, Rome, Syndey and voyaged aimlessly throughout New Zealand.

limes is one of my favrits!
and lolipoops.
happee joy weekends to yoo!!
oxoxo
I've always liked when poppies see fit to sprout on my deck- Here there's lots of lillies n ornamental grass in the traffic islands this year. No poppies yet tho-
I originally read "Jewish" instead of "newish" which totally confused me with the following words!... hey, I'm tired! Sounds yummy-
I used to eat the limes out of my Rum n cokes... haven't had any in years- (allergivc to shrimp tho)

I see a lot of poppies and yellow wildflowers that I haven't identified in the medians. Just lovely.
Ily -
Wow - that would be the greatest thing to have a lime tree in your back yard. And you can just go get one anytime you want. Lovely. As is the sound of your good dinner. YUM.
Jannie -
I would like to wander aimlessly through those places, too. :)

Yes - Jewish Korean tacos would be definitely a mixed bag. :)
I remember the field of poppies in the Wizard of Oz and the the witch saying: pahhhh-pees. I think the word like that every time I see poppies. :)
Hope you got some sleep!
Well we did it to pizza so why not tacos. I am amazed by the many ingredients you now find on pizza so it is not surprising to think of Korean tacos with shrimp. Now the only problem is finding a place to get food like that. You sure made it sound goodl
Granny Annie -
My friend had a pizza bar once, in which you could make your own. I discovered that blue cheese on a pizza is not good to me. But I like the stranger things like artichoke hearts. My favorite is that pizza margherita - the one with fresh mozerella and basil leaves. Yum.
Korean tacos sound delicious!
Mama Zen -
This guy is a chef, too, so I am so lucky to have such delicious food within walking distance of where I work. :)
I can never see or hear about poppies without thinking of two things: the World War One poem about poppies, and the Wicked Witch of The West screeching "poppies!" in the Wizard of Oz.
Korean tacos?!? Well, I have to admit, they sound yummy.
Fireblossom -
I don't know that poem, but will look it up. Yes - I loved that scene in the Wizard of Oz. Love that movie.
Love the photo Lynn. I was going to wish you a lovely weekend but it's nearly over so I hope it was a good one full of fun and joy. :)
Joe -
Thank you and I hope you had a happy fathers day. You are a great one, I think.
