Magnolia, another day and fragrant hair product

- A sun-dappled magnolia blossom on the tree in the courtyard outside my mother's front door in Thomasville, Georgia.

- On the way down on Saturday, a truck in front of me on the state highway going south swerves to avoid hitting something. It's a turtle, in no hurry, and it makes it to the shoulder of the road to live another day.

- Just before I leave to come back north on Sunday, beautiful niece Abby shows up to visit her aunt and grandmother. We hug and say "you smell good!" to each other at the same time and laugh.

Go, turtle! I saw a poor groundhog scrambling across a busy road recently while I was waiting at an intersection. No one even seemed to notice him, and i was so scared he would get hit, but he made it. Yay! Groundhog power! LOL.

Re: your nice comment at my blog: the gal in my book was named Flannery after that author. I am sure i have read a short story or two, but can't remember exactly. I shall have to investigate.

I was so pleased that the truck didn't want to hit it and it made it to safety.

Flannery O'Connor wrote the bulk of her work at her farm Andalusia in Milledgeville, Georgia (my home town) - the property literally backs up to the neighborhood in which I grew up, so I have a fascination for her work. The stories are always uncomfortable. If you are interested - Brad Gooch wrote a good biography of her. I read it last year.

Magnolia blooms are simply gorgeous. So glad the turtle made it safely at his own pace :)

Lovely scented hugs - love it!

I break for turtles and aim for squirrels. It's how I roll. And, LOVE the jinx... when you say the same thing at the same time. :)

I'm glad the turtle made it too! Lovely photo!

What a lovely blossom. The Sun must be happy lighting up the petals.

I'm glad the turtle made it to the other side of the road, safe. I hope road planners the world over will plan for passages passing underneath for wildlife to use.

I don't see it happening yet back here.

A beautiful flower. Never seen one in person, I think. Lucky turtle! Glad he made it! Really hate seeing critters get hit in front of me on the road.
Sounds like a good visit to your Mother with a bonus neice! I'd forgotten the old "Jinx" thing we's done growing up. Just seems you're alot alike!

Riot Kitty -

Thanks and I am so glad, too!

She is just a breath of fresh air - it was delightful to see her. And I think it's great to see them one on one sometimes. I felt that I had a real conversation with her a little later.

I had forgotten it was called "jinx" - thanks for the reminder. :)

Joe -

Thanks and I hope you are having fun in AZ!

"The Sun must be happy lighting up the petals." I love that thought - thank you for it.

And that is a great idea - to make roads elevated so wildlife could go underneath to the other side. I'm not sure if that is in the works here, but a great idea.

Mama Zen -

There weren't many blooms on that tree, but this one was nearly perfect.

I would like to be like her - that's nice thought. And I think magnolia trees are just in the south. I love them.
