Sisters' Weekend, just ask and synchronicity

- It's calling my name: the Hiawassee River that runs in back of my sister's vacation home in Clay County, North Carolina. Three sisters are converging today from three states, Virginia, Georgia and Florida, to have Sisters' Weekend 2011. We haven't gotten to do this in three years, due to family illness, etc., so we are looking forward to this time together. Our dad always said of prior Sisters' Weekends, "I'm so glad y'all are close." Me, too.

- A friend's response to the email solicitation I send out for donations to a non-profit (after my apology for asking): "A motto from my Mom; 'You don’t get anything unless you ask.'"

- And late in the day, in perfect synchronicity - my sister walks out of the world's busiest airport just as I drive up.

So I'll be around for blog catch-up on Monday. Thank you, as always, for visiting mine. And have a lovely weekend, my friends!

Got to love synchronicity!

I always wished I had a sister. (I have two much older brothers.) Growing up, I was so convinced I ought to have one, that I used to pester my mom asking where she was.

Have a great fantastically memorable weekend with your sisters!

I have one sister but she is the equivalent of at least five.

Fireblossom's answer is hysterical.

I never mind if people ask for donations and I can choose to participate or not. Usually if it is a group I already sponsor I will make an added contribution to their request.

Have a delightful and memorable time with your sisters this weekend and try to maintain some form of dignity. (That could be asking too much.)

Have a wonderful time with your sisters! I hope my daughters will grow closer as the years go by I really do.

Well I think you have some sisters in the spirit now. My friend Beverly said that to once - that we are Sisters in the Spirit. When I see her she always says, "Hey Sistah."

G -

Thanks, G.

Granny Annie -

That says it all about your relationship. That's wonderful!

I know - very cute.

And we will probably dance on the back porch like we always do to "We are Family (I got all my sisters with me)" No dignity here! :)

It's already started - two cicadas came in with us last night and we were shrieking like little girls trying to capture them. :) lol!

Joe -

They probably will. We didn't develop our friendship with each other until we were in our 20s. I hope they become close.

I will. Heading out shortly - no computer access and the iPhone access is annoying. I'll catch up Monday. :)

I always imagine sisters to be the BEST. I have 3 brothers. Alas, no sisters. LOVE your mom's quote. It's true, and Biblical. Enjoy your sisters. Bask in the love.

"Sister synchronicity!" It is real! Your example sparked my mind Lynn. One day, I had just moved to a new city where my sister lived (in the next town.) I went to the mall near her side of town and rushed inside. Coming out, I completely forgot what entrance I went in and had totally lost my car. I was near tears and contemplating getting a security guards help (embarrassed, too) when...much to my amazement, my own sister drove up and said "'My name,'what are you doing?" I explained to her (tearfully) that I had totally misplaced my car and didn't know this particular mall at all and she laughingly said, "Come on!! Get in and we'll drive around and find your car!" [which we of course, did and had (much) fun doing, of course.]

This sister passed away in 2006 after a fifteen year battle with cancer. I miss her (so!)
As I said, "Sister synchronicity " is real; it is alive and well.

Have a lovely time! I love the names of cities in Florida. We just found out that Mr. RK has relatives in Homosassa. No, I am not making that up.

I also have 2 sisters, I'm in the middle. I just saw one sis visiting from FL at my Brothers.
I'd love to do that with both of my sisters- but lack of funds n work schedules get in the way.
Glad you get along n are having a re-union!
It's true you have to mention things or folks don't know! Hope your campaign went well.
Sometimes sisters read each other's minds! I do that alot with my older daughter too- same place same time alot!
Hope you have a great time, n lots of laughs on your Sisters week-end!

Leonora -

We do have a special bond - especially after the last couple of years.

I just put my sis on a plane back to Virginia - she lives in the Shenandoah Valley. I asked her if she knew your town in VA.

happygirl -

We didn't always just love each other growing up - too much competition for the bathroom and such, we have been very close as adults.

I hope you had a good weekend!

lg -

That is a great story! I love how your sister turned up just at the right moment to help you and that y'all had so much fun looking for the car.

So many of my blog readers don't have sisters - and I used to want a brother. :)

Favorite moment - making Eggplant Parmesan together and eating it on the table in front of the river. Lovely.

Riot Kitty -

lol - Homosassa is near my sister's town. :) Lots of Native American names around there and that's what that is. :)

Snaggle -

I wish that for you - that you can get together with your sisters sometime.

Sparkling Red -

It was lovely and I'm glad you get to see your sis today.

He was right and we felt his presence with us this weekend. We talked about how he would love that we were in stitches laughing.

My soul was at peace. Thank you, my friend.
