Vibrant, tomorrow and Meatless Monday

- Snapping this poster of Cosette in my cubicle at work yesterday while testing my camera. I picked up the poster one morning while walking through the printing plant before it was trimmed and sent away. I love her sweet, tragic face and the vibrant colors of the poster make the beigeness around it fade away...

- My mother tells me how much she looks forward to my daily call, saying "I can't wait until you call again tomorrow!" It makes me want to call more often than that.

- Sticking to my Meatless Monday pledge by eating vegetarian all day, winding up with a delightful dinner with friend Leisa at R. Thomas Deluxe Grill - a place that caters to vegetarians and carnivores alike. I had decided to order the stuffed baked potato and added the grilled vegetables and raw hummus plate at the last minute, saying "I think I just ordered a ton of food." Our very laid-back waiter says "We have boxes!" And I have lunch for today indeed.

Always liked that particular poster for Les Miserables.

Don't think I could ever go completely meatless for a day. About the closest I can get is doing fishies.

An extra meal out of the deal!! Always a good thing! And a great gift of connection with your mom!

Nice poster.

I talk to my mother every day on the phone. Sometimes it feels like a chain around my neck to be honest, but I'm glad I do it.

That's something we don't have here in the UK, boxes for left over food. It always makes us smile when they ask when we are in the States if we want out food boxed up. One day I'll say yes, it's just an alien concept to me! :D

I love it, too. And there are so many good non-meat items - cheese, eggs, hummus (swoon), that I am usually set. Next week I have to go to a birthday party on Monday night held at Outback Steak House. That should be interesting. :)

All good things indeed!

Since my dad's death, my mom has been so sad that my sister and I call her every day. Two of the granddaughters call her routinely, too. I always try to make it fun and upbeat.

They give portion sizes at US restaurants that are too big - that's why the boxes. I hate to waste food, so that's why I take it home for another meal. I remember the portion sizes in the UK are more appropriately sized and probably just enough to eat - therefore, no need for a box. I sat next to a British woman on a plane once from Manchester to New York and she told me that she had gained 20 stone since she moved to the US - all those huge salads with ranch dressing.

That's such an iconic poster.

It's amazing how simple things like phone calls make someone's day.

Healthy dinner and healthy lunch in one fell swoop!

Sometimes when I feel too tightly wound, I look up at Cosette and realize things could be so much worse. (lol at myself.)

I'm having the leftovers right now - yum. Grilled vegetables are divine.

That's sweet about your mom. As for me, being vegetarian, every day is meatless Monday...or something like that :)

That exchange with your mom is so sweet. I'm feeling guilty now... I don't call my mom every day. Not even close.

Speaking of Mom, though, we were raised having two meatless suppers a week growing up, and I still use those recipes today -- although because F. grew up with meat a rarity under a communist dictatorship, I hate to deprive him of it. He thinks I have a "veggie obsession," LOL. I suppose I don't feel the same way about meat because it was pretty much always available...

Riot Kitty -

I admire you for going meatless all the time.

I didn't always call her every day, just since dad passed away. And she is delightful - so it is my pleasure.

Mom always talks about how I never cared much for meat. I still don't eat that much of it. It's funny, but raw meat grosses me out, so I almost always cook vegetarian at home. I do like a steak now and then.

I've never seen Les Miserables, but remember the poster- lucky find!
All You lucky folks who get to still talk to your Mothers- enjoy her voice while you can. I really miss my mothers phone talks.
I have trouble chewing some veggies now-
I always get a Doggie Bag- cause you pay for it, might as well eat it all- later-

Out of all the times I've been to the "Broadway" series here in Atlanta, somehow I've missed seeing Les Mis - but I do know the story. An awesome one. Hope you are having a good week!

I have never seen les Mis.

How sweet, we used to call Jim's mom morning and night her last couple years, mostly jsut a minute or so, but it means a lot.

Yes - I called her a little while ago. She needs the updating as to what day it is, etc. And I like to talk to her. xoxo
