Meatless Monday, happy man and great snack

- My Greet-the-Sun Breakfast Pizza was so good on Saturday morning that I had it again on Sunday morning. In honor of Meatless Monday, the recipe can be found here.

- A man in the produce section of Publix, exclaims with delight when he discovers that you can buy onions already sliced. I smile and say they are just so much more expensive that way. But it's convenient and I just want to watch the game! He throws me an incredulous look when I ask if the Falcons are playing. :) I point him toward the crumbled bleu cheese and he is on his way; a vision of happiness.

- A delicious end of the day snack in lieu of dinner: a red Anjou pear, toasted walnuts and some sharp white Vermont cheddar cheese. Yummmmm.

Onions are a joyful thing indeed. I love them.

I thought of you yesterday as I watched the Braves fumble away their playoff game. That poor second baseman...his name must be mud in Georgia this morning.

You are so Under the Tuscan Sun in your cuisine I think, Dear Lynn!

Sliced mushrooms are so much more expensive too. But I notice sliced bread is less expensive in our store, what's up with that?

Hope you have a super-great Monday!

For two days
it went down grand
yet no meat
on the next man

Some sliced
Some just diced
he said the falcons play
and he was on his way

A red pear
walnuts toasted brown
white wine
and sharp cheese going around

for me a ham sandwich
or make that two
or my tummy would
have growled at you

Brooks Conrad - he would not have been playing except for injuries to key players like Chipper Jones. Of course I feel sorry for him, but his name probably is mud. :)

Jannie -

I do love the Mediterranean food. Now that is odd that the already sliced bread would be cheaper. Maybe it is because the unsliced bread is usually a nicer loaf.

I hope you have a Super Great Monday, too, my friend.

Joe -

So am I! This is a South Beach diet recipe. That breakfast pizza is only 250 calories.

Love the poem!!! And I had a rather large lunch, so just wasn't that hungry. This made an excellent snack. :)

Lynn,
That breakfast pizza looks delicious (and I've just clicked over to check out the recipe!)!!

I had an omelet to start my day today - including onions I chopped myself!!!

I had pears and cheese yesterday - for lunch. But no walnuts cuz I hate them (sorry walnuts)!

Slicing onions last night and crying all the way through, I can imagine it might be tempting to buy them pre-sliced, but then I couldn't pretend to be a chef for a few minutes :)

It looks wonderful!!

I meant to put a link to the Flower Shuttle on the blog today and forgot. I can'tdo it right now, but if you go to my blog and search for Flower Shuttle, you'll see the explanation of what it is.
Thanks!

That pizza looks interesting. I'll have to check out the recipe.

I won't buy sliced anything unless I'm completely out of time; however, I'm never too busy to slice onions and cheese, so rarely do I go that route.

Your end of the day snack sounds yummy. I'd add a glass of wine to all that and be more than happy!

Let me know if you try it. And I can see how already sliced onions might be a convenience, but I never mind doing it myself either. :)

Talon -

Great minds, right? I like that you apologized to the walnuts. :)

Kenju -

Thanks for that - I will check it out.

Thanks!

Mama Zen -

Try it and let me know if you like it.

It's all about simplicity for me - I like simple things.

Wine would have made that perfect - I'm trying to lose a few pounds, so I'm just having wine with dinner when I'm out right now. This too shall pass. :)

NOM! Every day is meatless for me. Never let anyone tell you that being a vegetarian limits the choices.

Hmmm, I just finished eating bagel pizzas! (I get bagels free from work)- That one is prettier tho!
I felt that same way when I found individual stalks of celery for 25 cents in a challenged budget week.
Interesting dinner combo. Sounds like you had a delicious day-

Riot Kitty -

I think there are actually more choices when you go meatless. I don't eat much meat anyway and this is my favorite kind of thing to eat.

Snaggle -

It was a delicious day indeed. :)

Oh my gosh, so Chipper Jones was injured! I had just assumed he must have retired. I do know their closer got hurt. I saw the end of the last game last night. I was hoping they would have the chance to win for Bobby Cox.

They showed Bobby Cox's last press conference last night and he got so emotional, he couldn't speak. I hate that he couldn't have gone out with his last game being a winner, but we love him in Atlanta and will miss him very much.
